Is Brown using any admission slots for distance these days?
Brown is the worst academic school in the ivy League, they shouldn't even need admissions slots. Unless you want them to start taking 3.1 GPA students away from URI.
in just 3 weeks the Arkansas Razorbacks women's cross country team will open their season and their head coach is a sprint coach with a volunteer asistant, really?
Harter is sticking around on a "volunteer" basis, it has been said.
What happened to Megan Elliott? Thought she was supposed to take over the women’s distance squad.
No more volunteer coaches allowed in D1.
Not really...what changes is progrs use to be limited to 6 paid coaches and any staff members had to be vols. or working for the program in a non coaching capacity.
The NCAA did away with that. Programs are just not as limited on coaching positions. It does not mean programs have to start paying vols. or can not have people coaching on a voluntary basis.

Volunteer coaches are still allowed in D1, you're just allowed to pay them now. Up to 6 per gender.
The way our compliance office explained it, it is not that you are "allowed" to pay them, you must pay them. Our university (state?) policy requires they be full-time employees. So there is also a minimum salary plus benefits, etc...

Brown is definitely not a terrible academic school. But when you look at the roster the answer is yes. Men and Women distance is almost half of the total roster. Maybe they should use more admission slots in the other events to help contribute to scoring at conference so that all the weight is not on distance.
Ken Hunt is a field guy, and field is getting more competitive. They were in the middle of the pack with Dartmouth and Columbia at HEPS. So maybe they are executing the opposite strategy of focusing on track.
