Robyne has done a great job with the Cal track program (field events). Now she can look at the distance program and fix that clown show. No reason for X-C/Distances to be so bad. Their best cross country/distance runner is an 800/1500 guy, and the women's distance crew is non-existent. Rumor has it that some talented people showed interest in the distance program and were shut down. If Cal can build a D-1 program around two foreign field event athletes (Rogers and Alekna), who needs distance runners!
Is it possible that Yogi "retired" to get out of her contract with WSU?
There was supposedly a conflict between Yogi and Phipps over the way her kids were being used/coached/managed (her son & daughter were multi event specialists) which led to both entering the portal with one now at Eastern Washington & the other at Utah State, where she coached before going to WSU.
Don't be surprised if Yogi gets the Eastern Washington job.
