You don't understand - Putin wouldn't retaliate with nuclear weapons because he's too scared of nuclear war. In that event, he would have to live out the rest of his life in his underground bunker. He's goes from a somebody to nobody. With only his family & few loyal servants to admire him, he's going to feel like a little man.
Understand Putin thinks he's a God. He relishes in the limelight of the Presidency of Russia. He loves the power & control over the Russian people. Since he has all the money in world, fulfilling leadership of Russia is all that he lives for.

I think any tactical nuke strikes on key Russian targets would shock Putin to no end (he'd be thinking, oh crap I didn't think Zelensky would have the guts to do it. Lol). Too scared to launch back & risk an all-out nuclear war, he would withdrawal his forces out of Ukraine & capitulate.

Remember what the US did to Japan in WW2. In April, 1945, the US Air Force firebombed the heck out of Tokyo causing over 100,000 deaths & a million homeless in what was the single most destructive bombing compaign in wartime history. Japan refused to surrender & next came the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Japan still refused to surrender, and not until the 2nd A bomb dropped on Nagasaki did Japan waive the white flag & surrender. The US didn't screw around with Japan & did what it took to bring Japan down to it's knees & win the war.

Time for Ukraine to put the hammer down on Russia & do the same. Russia started the war & Ukraine needs to finish it.

Again, I ask is this a sporting event where a score is kept with rules & regulations, or is a war where the objective is to destroy your enemy & win?

They will never surrender land. Now the produce of own military products increase in Ukraine and the only ' surrender' they may agree is to not join NATO.

The reason he will never use nukes there is radioactive fallout. It's like pissing into the wind. The best agricultural lands (their breadbasket) in Russia are to the east of Ukraine. A very large number of manufacturing plants are in the same area. Moscow is to the northeast ... just a few hundred miles away. The fallout would devastate Russia.

What's funny to me - though also disappointing - is how many stupid people exist that don't understand how Putin is 100% responsible for the war.

These people believe Russian propaganda, they think it's ok for Ukrainian civilians to die and they are more often than not lesser educated and lacking in critical thinking abilities.

Russia could just pound Kiev until that government ceases to exist. The choice is Mr. Zelensky’s, and has been for months as his forces, armaments, and prospects dwindle. He could suspend hostilities, go to talks, even raise a white flag and put an end to the needless suffering. Under no circumstances will he get the Donbas or Crimea back. I doubt that Russia wants to take over the rest of Ukraine, considering the cost of having to support it indefinitely. Better that it should remain a sovereign state and look after itself — but neutral, demilitarized, and, if you like, de-Nazified. You understand that these will be Russia’s final terms? And that there is nothing unreasonable about them?
In short, the hypothetical coup would fail, and the Ukraine war will end, and Mr. Trump will get inaugurated if he is careful to avoid the blob’s assassins until January 20. As for Rep. Jamie Raskin’s scheme to prevent a Trump swearing-in on account of him being “an insurrectionist,” you can file that under “dumb-sh!t grandstanding.” So, the new government will come in, the new department chiefs will get into office, and the leviathan will get the therapeutic treatment it deserves.
