NATO has obviously been watching and analyzing every move made in this war for strategic future planning. Many Russian military weaknesses have been exposed.
But THIS -- actually getting invade by your smaller weaker neighbor that you are already at war with for two years -- is beyond belief. Even the most experienced, talented and informed NATO geek analyst has got to be shocked by Russia's inability to defend itself. NATO is now thinking that it could probably roll into Russia with just Portugal's army. After two years of war, did anyone know even last week just how truly ridiculous Russia's military defense is?
Russians are FREAKED by these incredible developments. Russians have to know that if and when NATO decides it's time to pull the trigger, Russia is finished in 3 days tops. There is no hiding this fact anymore.
Okay then...can Ukraine expect a Russian surrender in the immediate future? Is the war finally over? Can Ukraine then go after Putin & start the process of dismantling the Russian military machine?
You say "if and when NATO decides it's time to pull the trigger, Russia is finished in 3 days tops" How does that work out? Are you saying NATO would invoke "Article 5?" (which would have to be agreed upon by all member countries in order to attack Russia).
And if Article 5 is invoked, does NATO initiated a full-scale attack, i.e. land, sea & air? Any attack on Moscow & the Krelim? And how is NATO going to neutralize Russia's nuclear arsenal?
Okay then...can Ukraine expect a Russian surrender in the immediate future?
No.

Not any time soon. But likely in the next 10-20 years. And it wouldn't be Ukraine doing that. It would be NATO troops, primarily American, British and French.
Boris wrote:

It works out great with NATO troops advancing through Finland, the Baltic states, and possibly Ukraine, blowing the sh!t out of anything in their path and ultimately patrolling Russian cities like Moscow, Leningrad and Stalingrad, with all of Russia's remaining military ability to attack countries in Europe dismantled. See Gulf War for something similar.

Probably. Although NATO nations could attack without it.

Yes.
Boris wrote:

That almost goes without saying.
Boris wrote:

Probably by seizing control of it. If not that, destroying it.

Talk to your countrymen more. Or even the MAG@s on this board. They will tell you that the Kremlin and the Russian military's biggest fears have always been NATO on the border within striking distance of major Russian cities and military installations. Almost all of Russian military doctrine, training and preparedness surrounds defending Russia from a NATO attack. NATO expansion to the Russian border has been keeping Russians up at night for the last 30 years. Ask the MAG@s.
And we now know just how pathetically UNPREPARED you scumbags are. It's coming, Boris. As history shows, the US and NATO loves wars and they love expanding, and they will love blowing the sh!t out of you lowlifes.
Article 5 clearly states that NATO can only mobilize & attack if one or more of any of their member states are attacked...period. This is the cornerstone of the alliance that was adapted after WW2.
I don't why you think I'm a scumbag Russian of something stupid like that. I'm a 63 yr old American boomer who served sick & tired of seeing the military industrial complex & Global elites start & profit from uncessanary wars.
So, it looks like now there will be just more fighting for months to come on Russia's side of the border. Lol.

My point, which should have been clear to any literate English speaker, is that the US and NATO are very war-like, Russia's greatest fear is a US led invasion by NATO countries, and the chances of Russia's greatest fear coming true have now risen substantially as Russia's incredible military weaknesses have come to light. They got invaded by Ukraine, for fvck's sake. We've run out of adjectives to describe how useless and pathetic the Russian military is. When the time comes, it's going to be a milk run to Moscow. There can be no debate about that now, in light of recent events.

The Russian military has been a lot less impressive than anyone expected, but they're still a nuclear power and neither Ukraine nor NATO are going to invade with the intent of conquering the Russian government.
What Ukraine is trying to do with the incursion into Kursk is to force Russia to divert troops and material from the Donbas offensive, to embarass the Russian leadership to decrease the Russian public's support for the war, and to put Ukraine in a better negotiating position for any potential settlement talks.
This offensive also highlights the absurdity of limiting Ukraine's use of long range artillery strikes against clear military targets inside of Russia. When Russia is launching drone and cruise missile attacks from airbases in Russia it's ridiculous that strikes against these airbases are considered potentially escalations.
Even Russia's limited operation is inexorably mowing down Ukrainian resistance on the Donbass. That is Russia's objective.
Currently they are closing in on encircling Ukrainians still trying to hold on to New York. The Ukrainians will have to fall back. They've been doing that for months on end.
This whole "invade Kursk" thing was a desperate bid to look like they were winning at something. They had no chance of getting anywhere, didn't even try to - only sent recon groups running around to look like they were doing something. It got as far as it did only because the Russians didn't think they would try anything that stupid. Kind of like you don't expect someone to throw rocks at you if you have a holstered pistol visible.
That little Kursk adventure is ending now, and the draftees being murdered on the real front to the tune of 13k a week will be asking themselves what the hell it was about.
It's all over. And those of you who have been backing it, it's over for you too. Your support for this has made you enemies of your own countrymen. We won't forget, and we won't stop fighting you even as the Ukraine war ends. We have seen the enemy within.

Ukraine doesn't have the manpower to hold the existing line and it opened a new front.
This is idiocy.
They made gains because this part of the border wasn't defended. The Russians are there now and all the Ukrainians will either be killed or withdraw in the next few months all for nothing.
Meanwhile, Russia continues to consume Ukraine and there's nothing Ukraine can do about it.
NATO will never "pull the trigger" because the west isn't willing to bleed for Ukraine which is why the west encouraging them to fight is immoral.

And to make matters worse, Russia loving M'aga is dying.

No one thought the fighting would last less than a month.
The thought was that Ukraine would be smart enough to know they couldn't win a protracted war and would surrender rather than fight.
The west encouraged Ukraine to fight and now much of Ukraine has been destroyed, the war is being lost, 100,000+ Ukrainians are dead, and the west has largely lost interest.

No one expected Ukraine to hold off the invasion as they did. Most everyone was surprised by Russia's failure to capture Kiev in the early weeks of the war.
Ukrainians were simply determined to fight to defend their country and maintain their sovereignty. They didn't want to end up as a puppet government under Putin's control.
Your viewpoint has always been that they should have just surrendered their freedom to the invaders. But you fail to admit that they don't want that. Ukraine has constantly begged for help throughout this war. They want the aid. They don't want to surrender their country to Russia.

Of course Ukraine doesn't want that.
The problem is they don't have a choice.
The options are fight to death and completely destroy the country and be a russian puppet
Or they can just return to being a puppet like they were from 1992-2014 before we toppled their government to make them a puppet of the west.
They cannot win the war without NATO boots on the ground and NATO is never going to do that because it's more likely to end humanity than free Ukraine.

Russia's greatest fear -- and you have admitted this when you are arguing other garbage -- is an American led NATO invasion across its borders. According to you, that's Russia's entire reason for invading and destroying Ukraine to begin.
The likelihood of Russia's greatest fears being realized has just increased significantly in the last few days, because NATO and the rest of the world have been absolutely shocked to see just how badly Russia's military defenses are. Try to get this through your apologist Russia-loving head -- Russia has actually been invaded by its smaller, weaker neighbor that it has been bombing for 2 years. As we speak, Ukrainian troops are blowing up Russian sh!t IN RUSSIA, while Russians flee like cowards back to their eastern sh!tholes. No matter what happens, the pathetic weak nature of Russia's military defenses have been exposed for the entire world. Russia is humiliated and justifiably in great fear.
NATO will never "pull the trigger" because the west isn't willing to bleed for Ukraine which is why the west encouraging them to fight is immoral.
You underestimate America and its resolve. America has shown repeatedly that it will stand up to tyranny around the globe. You slimy people call it "war mongering." Normal people call it fighting for what's right and protecting American interests. But whatever way you want to spin it, for better or for worse, America WILL engage in war around the globe and destroy its enemies when it needs to or wants to. History has established that. And when the time comes for Russia to finally be ended, all the recent evidence shows that it will be a cakewalk for America and its Allies on the road to Moscow.
Hunter Biden Sought State Department Help for Ukrainian Company
Via the New York Times
Today, August 14, 2024, there are Ukrainian military forces operating in Russia. Ukrainian military forces occupy approximately 400 square miles of Russian territory ("the Motherland" as Russians call it) in the Kursk and Belgorod Blasts.
Over 80,000 Russian cowards have fled the area. Russians are digging large trenches in their own country to try and stop the Ukrainian advance. They learned this defensive trench tactic from when Prigozhin and the Wagner Nazis invaded Russia a while back.
Ukraine controls 74 towns and villages in Russia. Ukraine is in the process of de-Nazifying those towns and villages. It is a laborious process as Nazism in Russia runs deep.
As a LetsRun public service, here's a side gig opportunity for posters located in Russia:
CNN has uncovered online job vacancies for trench diggers in Russia’s Kursk region, as satellite imagery shows a new trench system has been dug in the region. “Friends, they asked me to publish this announcement from Kurchatov,” said one user in a group called Typical Lgov on the Russian social media website Vkontakte. Kurchakov is a nearby town adjacent to the Kursk nuclear power plant.
“We need people to dig trenches in Lgov. They also have equipment but no drivers. Payment every week,” it added.
Meanwhile, a construction company in the distant region of Bashkortostan posted a job listing on the website Avito, announcing that workers are needed for digging trenches in Kursk region. It said workers would be paid between $1,600 to $4,000 a month.
“We provide: Three meals a day; All necessary tools; Work clothes; Transportation to the place of work at the expense of the company,” the advertisement said.

This is a developing situation . . . . .
Who was that guy who was always yapping that Russia was in Ukraine, but Ukraine was not in Russia, so Russia was winning? Damn, that guy was an idiot.
This "invasion" is a huge nothing burger. Ukraine "invaded" a part of Russia that is basically empty and certainly is of no strategic value. It is a PR campaign to say, "hey, we aren't losing, we're over her invading Russia!" And it's an attempt to divert Russian soldiers and assets to a meaningless engagement.
Watch how the Ukrainian "invasion" force doesn't keep pressing north. That will be the tell.

If Russia diverts soldiers and assets to fight a "meaningless engagement" then it would seem Ukraine has achieved something of strategic value.
Never mind that Ukraine's "PR campaign" is doing real damage to Russia's PR campaign and this matters a great deal to maintain (or not) international support for Ukraine and conversely for the Russian public's support for Putin's campaign.
