Russia lost over 30,000 soldiers trying to take a small city that once hand 30,000 residents. Absent a complete collapse and mutiny by UA forces, what about Russia's conduct in this war would lead you to believe that it has the ability to take Kyiv much less even set up a Stalingrad-esque fight for the city? Even without US support, UA is still getting support from the EU and has its own resources. The real question is whether Russia can afford to do anything other than cut a deal and declare victory by making the current battle lines a permanent border.
