FAIRBANKS - The Alaska Nanooks cross country team has announced the hiring of Conrad Haber. He joins Eliska Albrigtsen's coaching staff as the Assistant Coach.
"We are excited to add Conrad to our endurance squad!" Said Albrigtsen on the recent hiring, "Among the very high number of applicants for the cross country running assistant position, Conrad stood out to us with his progressive and modern, science-based outlook on training, open mindset and extremely positive and friendly attitude. All these qualities are what we believe are essential to keeping the success that our student-athletes initiated growing. We are very pleased to bring his level of maturity and experience to our growing team of eight men and eight women!"
Can we all on the lower 48 agree that if someone was as good as this quote states, that he would at the very least be at Anchorage, let alone anywhere else where there's a real shot at recruiting kids and not just developing the fodder that arrives on it's door steps at quite possibly the least desirable place to live and train outside of Phoenix? more to come on this S Show.

I don’t know why we’re focused on Fairbanks…. But it’s funny and taking my mind off the pac 12 nigtmare, first off- this article is hilarious. “Among the very high number of applicants” hahahah that is the best quote in the whole story. Wow progressive backward hat guy stood tall? Haha it’s like Michael Scott wrote his own press release

That is absolutely hilarious. Fairbanks trying to find a coach is probably about as easy as Cal trying to find a conference. I guess there is a lid to every pot. Can’t wait to find out what Cal’s is. #MountainWestOrBust.

I don't agree. Some people just want to coach. They don't care about the rat race. I think it would be an interesting position if I were single and had a bit of wanderlust. They aren't always going to attract the major talent, but I could see a specific person excited about the job.

The highest quality people (coworkers and athletes) tend to be at the places that are off the beaten path. Let the misguided keep thinking these jobs are below them, they're not ready for the secret to happiness yet.
The Penn State track & field team, and head coach John Gondak, announce three staff promotions ahead of the 2023-24 season. Ryan Foster becomes the program's Associate
UA-Fairbanks had 3 women in the top 5 at regionals last year. They are a legit program. I'm more curious about the guy apparently going to law school and not practicing.
Why all this hate on Fairbanks? So maybe the embellished the story a bit. Oh well! Good for him, whether he stays there long term or uses this as a stepping stone to the next spot. I hope he does well and I hope his athletes have a good time.
5 of those are volunteer positions. Ncaa has gone away from the title of volunteer and everyone is considered assistant coach. Only 7 are full time coaches and one director of operations.
