I understand the hate towards Gatlin, but I really respect that he doesn't give any F**K about what everyone else thinks about him. Can you imagine the mental toughness required to win it despite being booed all the time?

Well, Gatlin can only do what the rules state. He has to feed his family and live with the shame. Don't ever feel it doesn't est at him knowing he isn't loved beyond his enablers in the USA. As you said. One doping ban is one thing. Two doping bans is ridiculous. That said. Congrats to coleman, who looks like the future of the sport. He and Degrasse will have great battles.

Gatlin served his suspension and is probably one of the most tested athletes in athletics. He won. I understand people being pissed but if you don't like it, lobby to have the suspension rules changed to a lifetime ban.

Props to Gatlin. That was incredible.

Say whatever you want about Gatlin, but he kept driving it home on the outside lane while Coleman and Bolt were only focusing on each other and didn't finish as well. Kind of reminds of Van Niekark in the Rio 400m where he just kept pushing out in lane 8 and didn't know where the other runners were at.

I'm more militant anti-doping than most, but good on Gatlin. I am convinced Bolt is dirty, like Gatlin, but good on him too.

But the audience and talking heads can fnck off. The hypocritical hero worship (keep in mind who is in the commentators' box...) that tries to build Gatlin as some villain is everything wrong with the sport.

Man Bolt wouldn't have even medalled if De Grasse didn't get "injured."

I just don't get why he didn't do the 200m as his final send-off. With his characteristically shaky starts, the 100m was never as much of a guarantee as the 200m for him.

I was so focused on Bolt I only realized he'd lost to Coleman. Didn't even notice Gatlin during the live broadcast.

You don't sound very anti-doping at all.

Gatlin first broke 10 fourteen years ago. For some reason, he did not compete in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 at his prime. It may be seven years since his second drug ban ended, but we do not forget.

Past conviction or not, I can't help but feel good for Gatlin. He's wanted nothing more than to beat Bolt for years and works much harder for it than Bolt. The booing from the crowd was over the top, he's as clean as anyone else in that field and had to play the villain for too long.

I'm watching the BBC News on the feed I was watching and they are reporting the 100m final like the Queen just died. Good lord.
