Picking something about a sport does not deny basic biology. It has some effect on that sport, in Connecticut, in a couple of events, in High School.

But it doesn't deny something basic about biology.

Those things aren't really the same thing. Sexual assault is a really bad thing. Running in a high school track meet, at least in my opinion, isn't like sexual assault.

You also say that "this boy is just faking everything." That's a lot of faking. I'm not sure I can see what you mean from the articles I am reading.

It's not just about some eye-popping times in High School track. That's just this one local example. Gender classification and fairness problem affects sports at all levels, including national, international, and Olympic.

This is a very good point (at least in my opinion). I think that the balance (in terms of winners and losers) should be weighted in favor of transgender athletes generally. In this case, where so many people are rushing to shame a young person at Letsrun, including (as I see it) the editors of the site, I think the scales need some serious adjusting.

I agree with you about non-transgender women as being the losers throughout almost all struggles for rights, power, and access, but I'm commenting directly on the issue of the HS meet in Connecticut.

There's plenty of work to do on behalf of cis women and transgendered people both,before we're in a place where rights, power, and access seem just, in my opinion.

I looked up the definition of "woman" in the dictionary but it is apparently totally wrong according to this boy scammer. So I don't think dictionaries are reliable any longer, especially to look up the definition of feminist.

The way this is heading... why not just put everyone in one single race (Men, Women, transgender) and make it "fair." This way it includes everyone and doesn't single anyone out. Everyone gets trophies at the end!

Hmmmm. After years on HRT (hormones) I enter as male/open. I'm still faster (mid 3 hour marathon runner) without testosterone than equivalent cis women and I expect I always will be. Your generalized comments are based on 1 girl of a population of 1,000,000 trans folk in the US.

there was also a thai transgender girl in alaska who medalled in a state high school meet there,last year..identifying as female,but still fully male.so far we havent seen any super quick transgender runners,in any events,competing,but its really only a matter of time.

This is so messy that it the very term "politically correct" is, for once, pitched into battle not against a societal adversary, but against itself: one marginalized group versus another, the former a rather new and emerging phenomenon (at least on a national scale) and the other in play since time immemorial.

The "politically correct" thing to do in this to in this case in some people's view is to just whistle cheerfully and clap while a biological male competes against girls. I on the other hand think this is an insult to women's sports, all intentions and pathos left out of the equation.

I fully understand that this happens, and would not go so far as to assume this is a huge joke on the part of the sprinter to win state titles and then later yuk it up with close friends in private. But this is decidedly not the point,

I can identify mentally as a "little person" trapped in a body formed by normal levels of human growth hormone and yearn to play basketball against people three feet shorter than me. This may sound like a farcical comparison to the CT situation and in some respects it is, but it preserves the logic.

You all concern yourself with the horrors of shaming people, which is gallant and noble and often proper. But shame is about the only thing that will keep a larger subset of teenage boys who feel no uncertainty at all about their gender from running girls' track. The majority of the instances mirroring the CT one are perhaps likely to involve boys who really do identify as girls; sex is notably not always congruent with gender.

But again, this matters not. Competitive sports are about physical realities, and one of these is that except in very rare instances, determining someone's sex is not complicated. Pointing out the very rare instances of non-XY people and touting them as reasons to allow someone like this kid in CT to run against girls is like looking at the tiny fraction of late-term abortions that involve basically dismantling a living human as using this as a basis for outlawing all abortions, or joining the religious nutters in their "no contraception!" and "No ESCR!" nonsense.

It is rank horseshit and not something schools can ignore and bounce to the next authority, or simply into a void.

Transgender is correct term not transgendered as you wrote. Keep up with correct terms as you correct others.
