Correct. RD and a member of the Quakertown Rotary.
The involvement of the Rotary, which is a service organization, is the only thing that gives me pause about this whole thing being a total goof.

what about Broad Street? practically local - super fast course...and to get into the elite field you don't have to have run THAT fast, but yeah, i guess you would have HAD to run....
I don't think Broad Street is record eligible, since it's point to point with a net drop.
What a weird an unsuccessful hoax they tried to pull off. Add Dr. Fresh Diet and Bob to the Loser list of Philly

Actually, might be some truth to that. If you're going for the women's win or prize money at Cherry Blossom, you have to participate in the separate women's elite start, which goes off 10 minutes before the main race.
Now, she could still start with the masses at CB, which includes the elite and sub-elite men (so guaranteed people to run with in that low 50s range); someone will have to refresh me on whether she would be allowed to set the women's record by starting with the men. I would think she could, if she can set it in a mass start at Quakertown.
On a separate note, who's "Bob"?
I meant Bill Orr, the elite coordinator for CB...maybe confused with the Bob that is the Quakertown RD. And I am aware of the advanced start...I ran with a seeded bib in 2012 and elite bib in 2014 and both years Bill combined the seeded with elites. So if she's legit, I suggested she email him and explain and he would surely let her in.
USATF tracks both women's only and combined event records. Molly's 2015 run at the 10mi USA champs was not record eligible due to the distance between the start and finish. I don't think the combined gender start had anything to do with it.
So to be clear, we still don't know what's going on here?
QUACKTOWN TO BOSTON!!!!!
STILL IN THE GAME, BABY!!!!!!
Perhaps Jill is one of those really annoying pathological liars and this is a cruel joke to teach her a lesson.
I am sure I am not alone in my approach of playing along with and encouraging liars/idiots til they humiliate/ out themselves.

Accurate summary.

Its a not so elaborate hoax! The "running Dr" is trying to get PR for the race and his practice.
This is the problem with ultra folk, they don't get the world of road running where records are truly kept, and people are knowledgeable of what the records are. So they think it compares to the "fastest time recorded on "said ultra" when ultras change distance and courses every year etc. and are never true records etc....
Running DR.(Coach-Jill's Boss-Title Sponsor of race)obviously has no idea what he is doing. How many elite level coaches wear tights under running shorts(see pics on his fb page) etc.....

Per Facebook, he's a Temple alum. Sounds familiar.
This is just getting out of hand, but of course as a letsrun reader it's pure gold in entertainment. I don't believe Jill Greathouse is legit at all. It's just not possible to go purely unrecognized in world-class talent your whole life then show up at race claiming you're going to break the American record.
What's really tripping me up though are 2 things:
1) Bob Bodkin's sincerity. The guy seems to really think Jill is legit. The Rotary Club only has like 112 likes on Facebook. It's not like they're trying to fool a bunch of people.
2) What does the Quakertown Rotary have to gain by making this claim? If there really is no Jill Greathouse, or if she is real and runs like, 1:20, then the Rotary just looks like a bunch of idiots and they lose integrity to their name.
But really. No one casually breaks an AR on a "training" run. My best guess? Dr. Austin Sedicum is a pure phony and is tricking this poor Jill Greathouse into thinking she's the next best American Distance runner.

The problem is Bob Bodkin went all in depth on what the current record is, where it was set, and how Jill has run already in practice. He also stated USATF would be on hand to verify the record. This is just as confusing as he acts like they reached out to USATF and they obliged and said they would be present as well. Maybe Bob is just as invested in this lie as the rest.

Maybe Bob is not in on it. Maybe the run doc, Jill's employer, thought it'd be just hilarious to prank his buddy Bob, the RD, by saying he's coaching his employee to run an AR and showing Bob a made-up GPS track of a record run on the racecourse. Bob believed it and posted it on the Facebook page and the rest is history.
The tales from those who say they've interacted with Jill don't fit this theory, unless those tales are made up, which would never happen on LetsRun.
I am glad I got in on this thread early. I have to be honest, I have been checking it non-stop for updates.

If that is the case (Bob being invested in the lie)...I guess I'm still wondering what the motive is behind it. I'm sure the guy is a local hobby jogger of sorts who knows plenty of people in the community. Why the outrageous claims if they aren't real? Even if it was to promote Austin's business, it's still stupid because if she's gonna run 11 min pace then Austin is a terrible coach and I would never visit his practice.
What if it turns out that Mike Rossi is behind this entire thing. Would he be confirmed as the greatest running troll in the history of LetsRun.com and the running world in general?
can someone please message Dr. Sedicum on Facebook and ask him how he's managed to train one of the greatest female distance runners of all time in secrecy and let us know what he says?
thanks.

You're assuming Mike Rossi is smart enough to pull this off.
But yes, it would be.

Why would Rossi do something that would bring up his story again and remind everyone about him and bring attention to him...?
Come to think of it, that's exactly something Rossi would do.
But Rossi doesn't have the imagination to do it and wouldn't involve the RD.
