Several people have asked for "the video" to be posted. Reading the original blog again I noticed, "Alison’s husband and friends captured everything on film."

Subsequently we learned that the now-deleted pics showing the athletes after contact were taken by two different people on their phones. I think it's safe to assume that "on film" actually means on camera and there isn't any video.

true, but one of the pictures looked like a screen shot from a paused video.

Haven't read all the pages, but I see some saying that you should in no circumstances "shove" a person. I don't know about that. I have had people (eg. oblivious spectators) suddenly step out in front of me at a race and I have shoved them aside. It was more a reflex than anything, because at that point it's either put your hand up and shove or be involved in a head on collision at 10 mph (or whatever). I think it's actually BETTER to try and absorb/divert your momentum with a shove in that case. Now if the guy just hauled off and punched this lady for no reason, then that's another story.

You are absolutely correct - I was more or less going off a combination of "most likely scenarios", which includes your scenario as well as the possible scenario that he ran over to her and shoved her without cause. All I was saying is without the video or further evidence the "most likely scenario" involves her possibly backing into him and him possibly overreacting with too hard of a shove. Both are equally at fault there and both owe an apology. Neither deserves to be blasted on the internet like this guy has.

As for the other poster "thanking dad" - I apologize I wasn't clearer. Keep it up with all the jokes and humorous observations. The predictable and overly used direct name-calling posts from the obvious supporters from either side are getting a little old. A specific example is the same person/group of people that continually harp on the "he is a slow guy running 7:40 pace - he can get out of the way. He wasn't moving fast enough, blah blah blah". Look, we get it, you are purposely insulting him by saying his average pace over his half marathon is slow while obviously ignoring the fact that he was probably running slightly/significantly faster to finish the race. Also at the end of a half ironman distance. Also, by repeatedly using the same insults (c*nt, douche, etc) across multiple posts and different screen names gets old. Although it has been rather entertaining sprinkled throughout. Just lay off the 4 or 5 straight posts. It gives you away too much.

I find it strange that anyone would blog about their triathlon on a corporate website for a children's learning center, even if she does co-own or manage the business. Then again, maybe that's what tipped off the "Appleseeds" clients to flood this message board with their "support."

There is a video, stated right in the second paragraph of the blog. It even states it was sent to USAT.

I really don't see the point of sending it off. Only person needs to see it is the RD for a DQ.

Something to else to consider. If tri guy did apologize, that might be used in a civil suit as an admission of fault. Also Alison needs to remove the whole touched sentence from her post. With the context it is in now, it implies a contact of a sexual nature that didn't occur. Seems to me that could be opening her up to a defamation case.

Don't mean to be a jerk but would you mind quoting the passage where it says that? Because all I see is a comment saying it was caught on film and the RD reported it to some tri authorities. I don't see any explicit reference to video.

Never mind. I see it now. I didn't realize the reference to the video was in his headnote about deleting the pics and editing the comments. Sorry to be so obtuse.

The reason lawyers advise their clients to not comment at all is because it is the smartest move.

I look back, knowing the details and timing of things, I couldn't get out of the way. I was blocked so well. He knew all my weaknesses and the timing. No one knows that though.

This guy needs to be reinstated.
