Some athletic directors demand champions now, and they threaten coaches with their jobs, so rather than coaches developing an american athlete, they go to foreign countries to get athletes who are already to go. Don't blame the coaches.

Can Purdue ever be good? What are their facilities like? Does the Athletic Dept have money? What did Warner make?
Yes, Purdue can be good.. its just more of an uphill battle than people may think...
Excellent locker rooms, nice facilities, state of the art weight room and training rooms.
Purdue struggles to get in state recruits because it's general academic scholarship fund is less that 1/3 the size of Indiana, making it easier for IU to give athletes academic $ where Purdue can't. Also, Purdue has a subjective (and more difficult) application process. The essay that makes the application subjective means that any athlete coming to Purdue as a walk-on who receives academic aid from the University, that scholarship counts against the allotted athletic scholarships for the track and field team.
Facilities are nice, school is difficult, getting $ to the recruits is much more difficult than a school like IU and wayyy more difficult than the big $ schools like Ohio State.
Also, Purdue's athletic department is entirely self-sustainable and still profitable. One of only 8 Universities in the country that receives 0 state funding but still turns a profit.
Current coaching staff is great and doing great things. Hopefully whoever comes in as replacement at the head coaching position strongly considers keeping the current staff.
The real question is what is going to happen with the Furman job now that Robert Gary is in the middle of a criminal investigation? Will they re-open the job or just keep the current staff in place?
Nice info on purdue, clearly from one of the assistant coaches who is trying to save his job. Yeah good luck with that! What decent higher level coach wants to get saddled with someone else's assistants?

That is the lay of the land in the Big 10, which is why the make such a big deal out of their conference championshsips. They set their own conference regulations, restrictions, and academic expectations other schools/conferences don't have to follow. So there is basis to making excuses for competitive inequity within the Big 10.
What is the word about ETSU Head Coach position?
Dave Walker just signed a 10-year extension. He'll be there at least through the 2022 season.
Actually, he is retiring because someone informed their staff it's actually illegal to recruit kids from other schools, which threw a wrench in how they did things at etsu. Are they staying asun for a while?
Is D. Anderson of TCU headed back home to Ohio to work for the Buckeye's. DA is from Cleveland. His former boss at AZ State is the AD for Ohio State.
Didn't ETSU just hire Dave Milner for head xc and distance position and give the head track to the sprint coach?
