for real real though..davidson has the pieces to win socons
1. App
2-9. Up for grabs
10. Citadel
11. Wofford
There are three constants in this conference
Davidson may have the pieces, but App's pieces are better.
I'd just like to point out that Wofford scored 17 points to UNCG's 1. Anyone care to comment on UNCG's decision to prioritize Penn Relays over SoCon? It looks like Katam will definitely go to regionals in the 10K after breaking 30:00, and Joey T is on the bubble with his 9:06. I think in Katam's case, the right decision was made, but if you want to run a fast steeple, then SoCon is a great opportunity the last few years.
Congrats to Raby, Berry, and Soderman--all classy winners. Good luck to Soderman and Blaise at Regionals. Is no one going to even mention that Davidson won both the 1500s? Hudgins may not have won, but he was not going to outkick Lantz, and his finish in the 800 was thrilling. Reminded me of indoors. Also, Brunson Miller is a monstar.
It will be interesting to see who else qualifies for regionals.
As for XC predictions, who is graduating? Are Kirwa and Berry gone? Hudgins? Is that all App loses besides Bud? Last year's conference results list Berry as a junior. UNCG loses Clyne and Savoia, aka Rocksteady and Bebop, but they add Katam, giving them 3 studs. Davidson loses Schmitt but adds Lantz. Conference course is in Charleston, so likely flat, giving Thompson the advantage, but it's hard picking against Kenyans in XC. Will Berry finally get a title?
soderman and raby go 1-2. pumpkin patch for the win.
these two will be good but them going 1-2 is a pipe dream that will never happen. have either of them ever beaten berry thompson or koech in a socon xc meet? now they also have katam to deal with too. hopkins is very good as well. katams rate of improvement from indoor to now makes me think he has to be the early favorite for the fall title.
Wouldn't surprise me one bit if neither of those two finished top 5. It's safe to say Berry, Hopkins, Koech and Katam will all beat them handedly. AFter that Thompson probably will as well. App will still win the team title though, thats pretty much a guarantee.

Speaking of Koech...where does he go during track??
He disappeared last season to.
yeah okay, soderman had a foot injury in cross- beat everyone in the indoor 5k and thus far has run 14:22 and is now ranked 31st in DI in the steeple. Raby beat all of them to win the outdoor 5k and was pretty close to them in the 10k so its not like he sandbagged it. But of course the guys they both beat will beat them "handedly" because that just makes more sense. yes, they may not go 1,2- but it will be very surprising if they're both not in the top 5
What does everyone's recruiting classes look like? Both guys and girls?? Nothing's really listed on Dyestat...there has to be more than Zizzi to Furman and Garrett to App?
Info Please?? Some of these kids could come in and be scorers...
Koech ran track last year. He missed socon because his brother died. He redshirted this year.
You can't compare track times and say they translate well to XC and vice versa. They are 2 completely different sports. You can get a good idea of how someone might fair in XC based off track, but that's not neccessarily how it works. Ex. Kirwa, Koech, etc.
thats a good one wrote:

I'm not trying to compare times, I'm looking at the head to head racing, where both soderman and raby have shown they can beat everyone else in the conference, and of course you're not going to give soderman any credit for being ranked so high nationally right now- thats just not the cool thing to do if you don't go to app. soderman wins, raby is top 3, taylor and moen both top 10. calling it now.
no app guys in the top 5 next fall. calling it now.
of course this wouldn't be a surprise since there were no app guys in the top 5 this year.
anyway its still track season so why are we talking about cross country? looks like the socon will have the most distance representation at regionals that there has ever been.
soderman and carie in the steeple and katam in the 10k are all basically locks. berry hopkins and rabies need to run faster but can make it in the 10k. thompson is on the edge but probably need to go faster in the steeple. nobody will make it in the 800 1500 or 5k but this could still be a pretty good sized group representing the socon at regionals.
agreed it is good to have some representation for the conference at regionals. would really like to see some of those other 10k guys make it!!!
katam is an interesting piece for uncg. another month of training under his belt, given his rate of improvement (as previously noted), guy could surprise some people and get into nationals i think if he races smart. racing well at penn is good experience for him.
Taylor 3:46.9. Pretty solid. Hudgins just can't seem to get it together. Soderman 4:01? Just too fast for him I guess......

thats a good one. wrote:so not a single app individual victory after they went 1-2 in the mile, won the 3k, and the 5k. not to mention hudgins has won the 800 before. yeah okay. thats about as believable as wofford not getting last
Wofford was actually second to last at this years indoor championships. UNCG scored only 1 point from Thompson in the 5k, while Wofford scored 5.
http://www.tfrrs.org/results/19659.htmlWith that being said App will definitely win the 1500 and the 5k.
800, Steeple, and 10k will be harder but they could potentially have a winner in those as well.
Oh, and Wofford has a 99% chance of finishing last again.
Was that an earthquake? Or did Wofford NOT finish last in either men's or women's outdoor track this spring?
not so much that it's too fast for him, he just really has trouble getting the wheels going in the shorter stuff when he hasn't raced one in forever. Taylor time is pretty BOSS. I love how so much smack gets talked against app when all they've done for the past 6 years is whomp everyone else in cross, next year's gonna be on of the strongest teams they've ever had
APP to Nationals!
It looks like more people made it to regionals than you guys predicted. 1 in the 800, 2 in the 1500, and a few more in the steeple.
Tucker snuck in with the last spot in the 800 and Thompson just missed in the steeple.
It will be interesting to see how everybody does. Maybe the socon can get one or two people to nationals. Any guesses on who will perform the best at regionals?
