Yes the VVS played a major role too, wiping out the jihadi's fleets of oil trucks with hordes of unstoppable Su-24's, Mi-24's and ultra-advanced Ka-50's and Su-33's.
But Spetsnaz is pretty good too, why are you denying that? I'm not saying any SF is the best. But the VVS is the best air force, for sure. If that's your point then I agree.
The US forces are all chest beating publicity seekers. The best forces are the ones you know little about like the Israeli Sayetet. They have covertly been assassinating their enemies leaders for years doing stuff US guys would be prohibited from doing because its not PC under Obama. Clinton or Kerry.

Al-Quds Force did all the work at Palmyra. A.K.A. Jerusalem Force, the most active and baddest SF troops by far.
It is so nice to see so many people with so much pride in their units. I was in 1st recon 1 marine division, and the reality is all of the special units are exceptional in the US military. I cross trained with the Navy Seals at the Naval Amphibious Reconnaissance School in Coronado in 1978-1982. I was also sent to Fort Bragg to train with Special Forces, after I was immediately shipped to Key West Florida to Special Forces Underwater Operations School. We had Navy, Air Force, Army and Marine together in all of those schools and we trained with respect for each other, well except for the occasional brawl at the base club. To qualify for any of these units was hell, and we trained well past our physical capacity, and any person who has gone through this is a trusted brother and can watch my back any day. When you talk about jobs there was so much cross training any of these units can do all of the jobs within all of these units. You are right in on aspect, recon is the art of being silent, and unseen we were taught to kill with no noise, seals were a little more disruptive. My main expertise was demolitions had mechanical engineering in college. URAH to all stay proud.

Since as you know all this cross-training occurs, it is a waste of tax payers dollars to have branches of military and multiple so-called special forces. Most US WW2 generals did not like the idea of glorified prima donnas/special forces. When US moved from draft to volunteer forces, special forces is a recruitment carrot.

Lone Survivor had some bad mofos in it. But I didn't care for the author. He talks a big game about never leaving a brother behind, and says he would rather die fighting. Then he leaves 3 brothers behind to save his ass. I'd do the same. But don't talk a big game when you can't back it up.
