His Barcelona run was impressive, so I think he has it in him to hold 2.50s for 21.1km. But I'll go with 60:30.... He'll take the Aussie record within 2 years though.
I hope he commits to the 60:00 pace group. If there is an official split at 15km, he could break the old 42:47 Australian record on the way
Looks like there will be an official 15km split (not 20km).
Big shoutout to Joel Tobin-White, who upon announcing that he had put down a deposit on a house, decided that the first thing he wanted to talk about was the mean people on Letsrun who told him to get a normal job. You sure showed us, Joel . We're clearly still living rent-free both in his head and his new house.
Considering he’s not really a runner he should be flattered to get on here.
Hollingsworth holds offf Hunter Bell - I figure the race might have been different if HB didn't come off indoors + travel.
Nic's own daughter proved to be a total waste of a spot in this race. Coming basically DFL. Imagine if Lauren Ryan got that spot?
His daughter is very privileged with who she is and what that can get her, but her performances bar a few lucky days are just not anything more than good not great domestic runner. She wouldn’t have a hope of running for Australia so runs for Ireland (saying that as an Irish person but bar Sarah Healy we don’t have depth at the moment). Really doesn’t sit well how internationally competitive athletes weren’t left run that race.

Ed Marks front runs from 5km in the B race of The Ten and earns himself a new PB of 27:54.98. Beating his 28:09 from 2025. Shame he didn't get a spot in the A race because I reckon he could've been towed around to something quicker.
Cam Myers has noticeably gone to another level this year. The quality of his running performances has been very strong! Last night has shown another level of strength in that last 400m. Looking forward to his euro season and hopefully having a 3:28 to his name.
The other highlight of the night was Luke Boyes with a great last 100m, putting in a fair gap. I wonder how he will approach nationals. It’s going to be an exciting nationals with a potential lineup of Bol, Craig, Boyes and Williams. I’m betting Boyes will have a 1:43:20 in the right race this euro season.
Myers has all the assets that's for sure. My query is how he goes in a uneven paced/elbows and spikes, championship style race. But suppose if you're fast enough and good enough (as he is) it takes all of that out of the equation.
Brett Robinson completely blows up and runs 28:10. He'd be pretty annoyed at travelling all that way for that result. I guess that may be the end of Brett's little return to the track.
Tbh it would still be difficult for him to secure a world champs medal given the sheer depths of the 1500m rn. But a fast paced dl race, I would think he could stick on the back of Kerr/ Hocker.

Means he can go back to DNS/DNF-ing a marathon. On the plus side, he'll be around to go to Joel's house warming
Great run by Ky. First time under 27. 5k record next one would think. He appeared to do a lot of the leading so in a faster race there is the potential for another PB. Brett I imagined would be disappointed. McDonald 7:46 last night. Not bad (9 secs off his PB) but not great. Plenty of room for improvement though as he continues injury free. More of less a similar result to Beamish at Worlds. Hoare runs 3:35 at Sound. Similiar again. Hopefully things will round up for them for the outdoor season.
A big weekend for Aussie distance running with Myers, Robinson, and Hollingsworth all making headlines. Looking forward to Nationals in a few weeks. I wonder if Ky will come for the 5k and will Myers double like he did in 2025 and run 1500m and 5k.

I do wonder if we're almost at a point of "what you see is what you get" with Morgs, Ollie and especially Stewy. Morgan McDonald is now injury free and out of OAC but I wonder if it's too late to reach his track ceiling? I think if all 3 of these (and probably a few more - Jack Bruce has seemingly been injured for a year now too), aren't anywhere near qualifying standards on the track this outdoor season, it's time to move up and have a real crack at the roads/marathon. There's so many younger guys coming through and running similar times over 1500/3000/5000 now.
