I saw the scrape on his back when they showed them at the start line - I wonder if he also picked up a minor strain in his leg when he fell at the end of the semifinal that could have been an issue today? Didn't seem like he got spiked or stepped on the rail, but I haven't seen the slow motion replay.
Guess we have been underestmating the time of the season for this championship. Shape during the summer is worth nothing at the end of september
I’ve been saying this for a while. There’s some athletes out there that have peaked too early and were tired come August. It’s hard to peak in September. Hence Wightman doing better than Laros. Laros looked tired then.
When will you distance runners ever learn? None of you have the best kick. Run the damn race…
It's why Wightman's injuries have been such a shame. He's probably the smartest racer who isn't the best time trialler or the quickest. So he splits the difference between the other top guys right now.
Is there some contractual bonus for Kerr finishing and getting a place in the final, as opposed to a DNF? That's the only reason I can think of for him to finish. He's potentially just made an injury worse by sprinting 600m on it.
Nader is coached by Enrique Pascual Oliva, legendary great Spanish coach of the likes of Olympic Champion Fermín Cacho, World Champion Abel Antón and European Champion Reyes Estévez. Humble PE teacher, coaches for fun at his hometown in the middle of nowhere in Soria. You want to be coached by him, you have to move there. So did Nader and his partner Salomé Afonso.
All three of the guys you mentioned doped with the help of Fuentes. None of them convicted, all of them evidence (Jesús Manzano, convicted cyclist, met Antón and Estévez at Fuentes clinic; and of course, Fuentes himself said he doped Cacho).
Why is everyone saying that Nader winning was a huge surprise? He is only behind Laros (tied with Kerr) in season best list out of the finalists and he has been running well all year.

Because he was a no name behind the diamond league champion, 2023 world champion, 2022 world champion, 2019 world champion, and USA champion.
I don't wanna cheer on athletes getting hurt, but Kerr found himself in such a terrible position + running in sunglasses for no damn reason. I'm more surprised that something like this hasn't happened to him sooner. I think him finishing on an injury could potentially worsen it, too.
There are two types of people who wear sunglasses at night. Blind people and assholes.

there's probably barely a Portuguese user on here so he flies under the radar
Felt like a time machine back to 2022 with Wightman 250m out making the move. Was cheering for him the whole way down the home straight to hold it out.
Sad for Kerr. I'm rarely rooting for Kerr but I respect that he's all in and always shows up ready to win so I don't like how this went for him. Pulled muscle?
Happy for Nader.During the intros I said I always see this guy racing, this is a fluke-y meet and a weaker field, would be happy to see him medal. Didn't expect gold.
Think this closes the case that it was dumb for Hocker to be DQ'd. I think 2021 Hocker could have won this race, let alone 2024/2025 Hocker.

Looked like he cramped up and then un-cramped (if that’s word) but by that time he was done!
Hate to see that happen to Kerr. He's not my guy, but honestly at this point I only don't like him because I need someone to root against. He's a good dude who does stuff the right way.
Wightman was tremendous. Too bad he missed the gold, but a second medal cements him into another tier on the all time lists.
