In May, Bondi and her deputy informed the president at a meeting in the White House that his name was in the Epstein files, the officials said. Many other high-profile figures were also named, Trump was told. Being mentioned in the records isn’t a sign of wrongdoing. The officials said it was a routine briefing that covered a number of topics and that Trump’s appearance in the documents wasn’t the focus. They told the president at the meeting that the files contained what officials felt was unverified hearsay about many people, including Trump, who had socialized with Epstein in the past, some of the officials said. One of the officials familiar with the documents said they contain hundreds of other names.
This is completely unshocking, it's not an indictment of one "side"/party over the other, and it's by no means proof of anything illegal or grossly reprehensible. The big issue for Trump in the eyes of many observers who aren't going to toe the party line - that Trump and many people in his camp have repeatedly drummed up support with this topic specifically, then they realized that the public wasn't going to digest this information in measured way, then transparently 180'd on their stance on the information. It completely exposed brazen political theater and gadooshed any credibility they had left. There's just no claim left that this is an outsider who is going to expose the corruption and cronyism that, according to their own claims, was ruining the country for the common citizen. This is just another cash-grabbing politician who tricked millions into thinking he was the exact opposite. That might not matter to a handful of single-issue voters or people who were just blaming the prior admin for economic hardship, but much of the last decade's rhetoric has been wholly exposed as phony.

yeah I'm pretty sure trump will succeed here and get GOP members to take their names off the petition so it fails. POTUS and Speaker have a lot of power to ruin careers and lives. I don't see any Republican ending his or her career in congress for this.

Up until yesterday I believed Trump. But emails released yesterday were from 2011 when he was just a NY d-bag. It's clear he was into the whole Epstein island thing now. I'm a bit shocked tbh.
