Looking forward to Rojo’s victory lap on the podcast tomorrow!
Rojo asked a simple question. There is no need for a victory lap. Almost everyone was thinking the same thing. Would you do a victory lap if it came out that it was proven that Donald Trump had told a lie?
The Kenyan parliament demanded that Rojo issue an "unequivocal apology" for asking that simple question. He'll be running the victory lap around Kenya's goofy political leaders, not the cheater in question.
Also, since when has Rojo needed a good excuse to take a victory lap?
But Rojo if she was American you would not have asked her the question.
let me wonder the reason why
No he wouldn't but there has barely been anyone as obvious as her. Using WA scoring tables(so take with a grain of salt) but the jump she did from 2023 to 2024 is roughly the equivalent of a man running 2:03:14 and then 2:00:20 on the same course the next year.
So who is the "real" women's record holder in the marathon.
Here's top 10
1. Chepngetich 2:09:56 (2024)
2. Assefa 2:11:53 (2023)
3. Hassan 2:13:44 (2023)
4. Kosgei 2:14:04 (2019)
5. Shankule 2:14:56 (2022)
6. Radcliffe 2:15:25 (2003)
7. Degefa 2:15:51 (2023)
8.Kebede 2:15:55 (2024)
9. Ketema 2:16:07 (2024)
10. Wanjiru 2:16:14 (2024)
In principle, Chepngetich's record will stand because difficult/impossible to prove she was using Peds last year, even though highly likely.
In the above list: 3 Kenyans, 5 Ethiopians, 1 Dutch (Ethiopian born), and 1 Brit. Radcliffe of course didn't have supershoes back in 2003. Teleporting Radcliffe to this era, and assuming clean, I'm thinking she might be equivalent to 2:11:00/2:12:00. Intrinsically, Paula's performance might be considered the most impressive.
As a fan of distance running, it's hard not to be cynical about the Kenyan's win in Chicago. Its time to talk about the elephant in the room in the sport
I'll say it again and again; prize money in a trust for cooling off period for one year. Athlete gets banned - coaches managers get banned as well. Kenya need to be sanctioned and that may entail a ban similar to that of Russia. I look at MD and LD running like theatre. You watch it for entertainment for what it is - a dirty dirty game. Everyone is on something. EVERYONE. The goodies. The baddies. The boy and girl next door. The cocky arrogant one, the aw shucks self effacing one. There are those that are minimal cheats (pharma like thyroid/asthma/non steroidals etc) and those off the deep end who are ridiculously obvious. We all can guess who they are.

You can as well stop assuming about Paula. She was all the way to the gills and we all know it. As dirty as some other brit M.F.
Popped for a masking agent and provisionally suspended.
The AIU wrote:
The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has provisionally suspended marathon world record-holder, Ruth Chepng'etich, for the Presence and Use of Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) relating to a sample collected from her on 14 March this year. A Notice of Charge has been issued against Chepng'etich regarding the detection of the Prohibited Substance – a diuretic – following an investigation into the Kenyan athlete’s positive test which was reported to the AIU on 3 April this year, at an estimated concentration of 3800 ng/mL in urine.
Will the members of the Kenyan Parliament apologize to yours truly?
The members of Kenya's Parliament should indeed apologize to us and I will go march before their Parliament, but only after we receive an apology from you for your many attempts to argue that the burrito eating athlete who was similarly banned was not doped to the gills.
At least in athletics doping is met with opprobrium.
I went to Barry Bonds day at Oracle last weekend. Got a bobble head. 40, 000 strong gave him a standing ovation when he threw out the first pitch.
All game long between innings his former teammates and opponents and other dignitaries of the sport collectively said he was the best they'd ever seen.
Not a person cared about Balco.
Meantime Marion Jones is trying to hold her life together and Regina Jacobs is a real estate agent.
I agree - how about that total sh-tbag Alex Rodriguez? Television analyst these days with everyone continuing to slurp his junk. He was just as nasty as Armstrong trying to abscond himself and he's arguably the most beloved out of every fraudulent former "star".
I can't stand AROD. I think it's a DISGRACE fox employs him. I wouldn't say he's beloved. I don't think the fans of any time loved him even when he played for them. The Yankees were always Jeter's team. AROD was the slimy superstar they tolerated knowhing they shouldn't.

He never needed an excuse. Born on third base, waddled back to first and claims he hit a home run.

Very simple question. The sad thing is it's a question NO one else was going to ask. Everyone else in that room was like the baseball journalists when Bonds was hitting them out.
She must have been glowing so hard from an EPO injection the night before. Testers must have caught her before she could sneak out a window or something, so she takes plan B, a known masking agent, and gets 2 year ban vs. 4.
Real question is how Kenya is even allowed to compete. ITS NOT A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD!!!
We were all just supposed to pretend like a 2:09 marathoner barely breaking 32 minutes for 10k was normal. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.

none of the above, though a chick can run 215, without major endocrine imbalance,
Popped for car doping? lol Emma Watson was driving 38 mph in a 30 mph zone. Not that big of a deal. Imagine the millions of people here LA that be “popped” if they drove eight miles per hour over the speed limit. Big woop.
