Missed opportunity for Trump to burn his big, beautiful Tesla on the White House lawn and dip it in a giant, see-through aquarium to put out the fire. That would be a spectacle.

Bad people are likely to look to take advantage of rabid political party support and extreme polarization. It gives them cover. It gives them a chance to deny and deflect. You can even see Bob Menendez trying to use anti Democrat sentiment to cover for his corruption and to claim persecution.

The political climate even props up run of the mill hacks with bad ideas, even if they don’t sink to the level of moral reprobates. Are their policies bad? No! The “other side” is bad, and therefore any criticism is support of the other side.

We had a largely broken political system in 2015 and found a way to make it way worse.

Nope. I'm lifelong non-partisan historically centralist but that is considered leaning left now. No one on on the left is fine with Elon running the government. We are just enjoying Elon and Trump attacking each other and hope that both go down. Between the two, Elon's current positions make more sense (anti tariff, anti big bill, anti deficit spending) and Trump is the one with actual power, especially since Elon is officially out of DOGE (but still has his tentacles in it). Trump is more dangerous to the US institutions, the economy, science, democracy, so if Elon helps prevent a little of that (the tariffs and deficit part), the left hopes that happens.
