The 5k on Friday was great. This 3k was a waste of time
Instead of the point system where both races count they should just require racers to run both events and split the money between events. 1st in one event is 50K. 1st in both is $100k combined.

Good for Hagos. Picking up $50k after a bad first run. I'm impressed Grant still has a kick today after the 51. Wasn't that the main critique about him before the Olympics. Always in it, consistent, but doesn't have the kick at the end? or the race wiles to move off the rail?
Grant has definitely improved but the question of if he can really kick with the best when it counts remains. The best evidence he might be able to now is his win over Hocker at Millrose. A 14:39 5k win and a 3rd place 3k performance over 8 minutes does not move the needle.
Hate all you want, but that was a lot of fun to watch! I think it's clear Grant understood the concept better than everyone else, and it made for a really interesting race. I think presentation-wise, a live leaderboard like they do for the decathlon 1500 would be cool to add.
It's ungodly hot there and Grant has 3 more of these. He's right to play to his strengths and do only enough to win. The big loser here is Gebrihwet, who raced like an idiot Friday and put himself in a position where he really couldn't win.
It's fascinating to see how much Fisher's kick has improved in the last 12 months. The knock on him for years was that he always got 2nd place: McDonald x3, Justyn Knight, McGorty, Nuguse all outkicked him for NCAA champs. Even Klecker outkicked him for the USA 10,000 title in 2021 or 22. All good guys, but Fisher really had a hard time dropping anything better than 54, maybe 53 on the last lap. He's now suddenly grown himself a seriously good kick. He didn't run a brave race today, but I could totally see him winning the 10 in Tokyo with a kick like this.
