To be fair, Saint Francis Invitational is more a rust buster race. I’m betting you, ccs is going to be solid by next week when Dublin or Meet of Champions come around.
Who to look out for this year? Thoughts and predictions?
Also, it was missed by most because he got DQ'd for a lane violation pretty much immediately after, but Brandon Arrington Jr. ran 20.49 INDOORS at Nike Indoor Nationals. I said a month ago that I believed he was gonna break 20 outdoors, and I still feel that way.
I don't think anybody mentioned Teffra winning the NCAA mile yet in here, he was only a 4:14 miler in hs for Central, most likely walked on the Georgetown team. I wonder how many California college distance champions there are all time?
1:53 for Fitchen-Young is impressive considering he’s more of an xc guy.
I do not think Eli Fitchen-Young will be training for the full mile, especially since the top CCS milers will be Aydon Stefanopoulos, Benjamin Bouie, and Miles Cook. I think Fitchen-Young will be mostly training for the 3200m, along with Landon Pretre. In fact, if Carson Hedlund becomes healthy again, I expect one of the milers I mentioned to move up towards the CCS 3200m because the 1600m race will already be very stacked.
Looking at Carson’s Strava, I’d be surprised he’d make it back. If he does come back, he will not be at his peak… but one can only hope. Hope he has a steady transition back into running

He only started running a few weeks ago. If he makes it to the state meet over Cook, Bouie, Pretre, Stef, Fitchen-Young, and whoever else pops up in that time i'll buy all the regulars in this thread a beer at Clovis.
On another note, Miles Cook is all-American in Nike Indoor mile. 5th fastest time of day with national ranked-guys like Corbin Combs and TJ Hansen 4:10.01 full mile. Time was fast enough to beat Noonan’s time on the day of the championship mile. The bounce back from that indoor 2 mile is insane. Like, some of y’all don’t realize how huge this is.

It's impressive for the time of the year but it was run with even splits in a tactical race. Probably doesn't have too much left in the tank for now.
