Jesuit will be at the De La Salle Nike Invitational instead of Woodbridge. Yes, Woodbridge is prestigious but it's not an actual cross country course. Good on them for sticking to actual courses.
Bilodeau rumors seem to be true- he follows the official Jesuit hs account, along with their asb account, and their xc and track account- or at least that’s what I make of it
In the middle of the summer, Rich Gonzalez sends a tweet on X every time a major transfer happens in California.

Menlo was a fluke last year and will be terrible
If Menlo didn’t make NXN, Kushen wouldn’t have made it. He took 6th in the state meet merge. Pretre, who got second, was on the Menlo team
I think if Jesuit shows that they don't care about Woodbridge, Californias biggest race, it should just die. I think it's time for people to race out of state for real competition. Especially southwest races. The only reason why this race got so big was because of Newbury Park and Great Oak were top tier for many years.

ah yes, if one singular team chooses to not race at an invitational that has been a thing for decades, then that race should clearly just die, despite growing rapidly over the last few years. Clearly, it has already peaked and should simply be abolished.

So people should start going to Desert Twilight? Not a bad option.
Trabuco Hills did that last year, and so did the guy who ended up winning NXN the same year
I saw in the Bob Firman website that the Bob Firman 2025 meet was canceled

And the NXN champion TEAM was at Bob Firman last year

100% Desert Twilight should replace woodbridge as the biggest in season race
I too thought Woodbridge was overrated until I went there. It's got an Arcadia like feel to it and worth the trip. Big meet, all the hype, all the big teams and competition, and fast times. My team loves going there and any team worth anything should be there.
Imma be real, people try to peak during Woodbridge to hit that sub 14-14:20 just to completely bomb and wet the bed at Woodward park- I think most of NorCal’s best schools are doing themselves a favor not going to Woodbridge. Go to a Nike Portland or Desert Twilight or Hell, that other race that Noonan bombed last season that was out of state.
This is not to discredit Woodbridge at all but let’s be honest, Woodbridge is such a horrible measure of individual athletic capability- team wise, it’s probably a great measure- but you can’t tell me someone going 13:56 (the top time from Cali last season) just to end up sh**ting the bed at state with a 15:09 (14:59 at Clovis, 2 seconds slower than State 2023- keep in mind a lot of people though Zavaleta was gonna win state in D1 and then just began to plateau right after Clovis) but someone running 14:16 at Woodbridge can go under 14:40 at state just to place like 70 spots at NxN😭. Of hell even look at the Cervi-Skinner twins, completely shat the bed at NxN and not even getting all American status at that meet but both ran sub 13:50. Like I’m just saying Woodbridge is notoriously known for athletes peaking way too early. Hell, the Crater guys should’ve went at least sub 14:40 at Clovis too. Other examples of overall prime burnout: Ibzan Felix (14:13 Woodbridge -> 15:40 Clovis, 13:59 OC Park Course -> 2nd in D1 Southern Section -> 15:38 State), Westin Brown (14:09 Jr Year Woodbridge -> Disappears for a good min -> 15:41 State 2024), or hell even Manny Hernandez is another prime example. Like I said, no wonder why Jesuit, Davis, Albany’s top athletes, Crystal Springs, or De La Salle NEVER go to Woodbridge
Kids love Woodbridge. Great experience for them. Getting out fast 1st mile mimics Woodward Park. It's fun. It's fast. It's well done. So sjs stop it. Stop defending Jesuit and their recruiting and bs racing tactics. It's enough.
My guy, this isn’t about defending anyone lol. You have a good point, I’m just explaining why some teams/individuals don’t even go to Woodbridge- as my former coach has said in the past, it’s all about the end of season to be worried about.

The Cervi-Skinners will be college teammates with Pretre next year. And Skandera the year after

Horrible takes on Woodbridge just to justify some teams' absences. It's an amazing spectacle. It doesn't matter if they ran the whole thing on a track or down a hill, it's still the best mix of talent, under the lights. Call it a track meet if you're offended by it's flatness, but that makes it a unique race, with fast times. It's a level playing field for everyone, so get over it and quit acting like it's not the best early season event in the country.
