For a long time the SCMT organized a 1000 mile race together with a 700 and 1300 mile race. There was a race in Australia as well.
Around 2010 there was a race in Athens for 5 times. They try to do one in South America but I am not sure if that ever happened.

It's a little harder to organize than a 5k and you need a lot of time to run it as well.

12 days would be an excellent result but he has not finished 6 days yet and looks more like a Gladiator than a multiday racer at this point.

A lot of those are 1000 mile splits from the 3100 mile event run by the Sri Chinmoy group. God knows how that particular distance became favoured over the 1000... If you're going to be running for well over a month you're obviously going to be very conservative over the opening couple of weeks so those performances really need to be viewed in context.

I was on a run this morning discussing the timing set up with a running buddy . I asked if each lap is being registered as he runs a lap. I don't have tic toc and I don't need that rubbish on my phone. It doesn't seem clear when ned explained it .

Yes, a lot of them are from the 3100 mile event in Queens, NY (One time it was in Salzburg during Covid). And most of the athletes are from the SC group.

But I would say that you can't really change your pace much over these long distances. You would approach a 10 day race almost the same way as a 3100 mile race. You always have to keep your body on the right side of the red line. Once you get injured it will be difficult if not impossible to continue.

Maybe not so much pace but workload - i.e how much running versus resting.

Has he competed at competitions against other runners ? Surely this would be a requirement to earn the title Australia's best ultra runner.

It is also worth noting he is more of a professional ultra runner than the ultra runners that win ultra races in Australia.Im not sure where this idea that he's not a professional runner comes from his job for the last few months has been running . All the ultra runners I know work full time and still complete

He did the marathon/half double at Gold Coast 2022 - 2.57.06 for the mara, 1.28.30 for the half.
He also did Sydney mara in 2023 -3.05.59.
