WXC should be in January or even late December. Late March is ridiculous and flies in the face of Seb Coe's statements on gaining more inclusion from US and Euro squads. All this stuff about course difficulty, hurdles, footing, location, etc. is rendered moot when you hold it when most of the top 10% of depth from those countries is chasing standards on the track or soon will be. Holding to "tradition" is what's got us to this point of Western indifference.

I think we can pump the brakes on Cheptegei being washed up just a little bit. If he wins gold in Paris he will be arguably the greatest 10k runner in history.

An interesting result for sure. After 2022, I thought, with a little better fitness, he could potentially kick down anyone in the world in a championship 5k. The improved strength we didn't see last year may have finally arrived.

No body cares if Western countries don't show up - they are NOT missed. The Juniors from USA manage to do okay sometimes (Bronze in both last year). The Africans reign supreme at the Senior level as they give a crap - look at the kenyan women's team (only missing Kipyegon?). It has often been in March as that is the end of the XC season - indoors is for wimpy Americans who don't want to race outside in winter. The Track season should start in April and go to September (indoors should NOT be allowed), then you take a break and get in a long base from October to December, then race XC from Jan to March. Americans have it backward (as usual) and then expect the rest of the world to adapt to the their calendar.
