Sadie Englehardt gives up High School eligibility and will run in race with Pros and college athletes
Another top California prep gives up their remaining HS eligibility to run with pros. Same thing happen with Lex and Leo Young last year
Good for her

Sadie has just quit her high school team and she will be racing against pros.
I suppose she could still run meets like Brooks PR and New Balance Indoor Nationals but no more CIF meets.
CIF screwed up and allowed her to race last year as a pro. She's now stuck doing what the Newbury Park boys had to do and give up her CIF eligibility. Club running is better for the elite HS kids. Why waste your time at CIF BS meets.

The Newberry Park boys at least won their high school meets. Sadie loses her big his meets. And she is always underperforming in cross country. But I do agree the CIF is California loses all the best runners to their outdated system.

I think NBNI/NBNO both require qualifying times from actual high school races, not unattatched competitions. Could be wrong tho and might have an exception for her because she has an NIL with them.

No NBI or Outdoor will take open races from non HS events
She ran NXN and wasn’t too 10. She obviously a better miler , but not completely dominating.
Like others have said if CIF in California was more accommodating then she wouldn’t have to give up track season
This is not turning pro. Just like L&L she will run in some pro meets during track and start her ncaa xc career at NC St in fall 2025.
Her XC career a bit misunderstood. She only underperformed in her national races. She's a rare 4x NXN qualifier, 3xCA State Champ and holds the Woodward Park all time record. (Yes, the equivalent of the German Fernandez record)
Just on basis of XC, she is a top 4 recruit in her class along with Hedengren - BYU, Garces - Duke and Blade - FSU.
In the mile she is indeed dominant. She has the all-time HS record in 4:28, qualified for Olympic Trials at 1500, already has 4 of the top 10 all time hs mile times, and has over 30 races under 4:40.
That already puts her only behind Syd and Vashti C, in dominating a hs event!
So no she's not undefeated, but rather something like 118 and 7 over a full 4 yr high school career. Perfect? No. Dominant? Yes.
Not exactly. In CA and plenty of other states you lose high school eligibility if you simply compete in a pro race.
So as soon as a CA hs athlete chooses to accept an invite to a pro race, usually to get pulled to a record, they become ineligible for CA hs meets, including the famous State Meet progression.
So let's say Sadie runs this yr at Millrose indoor. She would be choosing herself to no longer run CA hs track meets.
