What are your credentials? Have you ever coached? Do you even run?
I am not arguing from any presumed authority. I am asking how can a top distance runner achieve better results from a training program that isn't what most will follow.
You have been asking for 3 weeks. If you don't accept any of the many answers you have received, why not stop asking, and stop wasting the time of those who thoughtfully took their time to answer you?
The elliptical and arc trainer allow someone to train at tempo effort, the heart rate one would sustain over a half marathon, without the same wear and tear on your body as a tempo run. Nobody does multiple 8-10 mile tempos a week, but you could probably tempo on the elliptical for 40-50 mins twice a week or go a bit slower for even longer 2 or 3 times a week.
This training won't work for everyone because some muscles used for running won't get used like they would from running and others will get used more than they would in running.
Also, its pretty boring and unless you have a very cool climate gym, may put too much stress on the body for recovery.
A lot of training is just maximizing the time spent doing work faster than easy pace but staying at the point where you can recover. Valby seems to have mastered that.

Armstronglivs is not really "asking" anything. His continuous "asking" is his subtle way of saying over and over that he thinks Parker Valby is taking performance enhancing drugs.

And it got old along time ago.
There have been visitors to this site that have voiced suspicions regarding Tuohy, and understandably so, for various reasons. Nonetheless, do we want every Tuohy thread repeatedly interrupted by a troll casting aspersions? Or do those posts get deleted, unlike this joker’s?

Anybody else convinced that Armstronglivs and astro are the same poster?

These threads are little more than an attempt to rationalise how a runner can make substantial improvements and come to dominate their peers on a training programme that most don't follow. The majority of runners don't follow it for the obvious reason that cross-training is not as effective as running to maximise running success.
Furthermore, to argue that an athlete's earlier swimming training (or any other sports experience) would have benefited their subsequent running career is an assumption, not a given. The very best runners have rarely excelled at anything except running. Their talent as a runner - plus training for the sport - is what made them successful.

Are you the same person as those who may hold similar views to you?
How can facts be ridiculous? You have lost all credibility. And saying college kids can't be compared to world class runners? Tuohy ran the USATF mert the past 2 years. And wr have had college kids male many teams and even earn medals. Valby would be running 14:30 right now if she was doing Monson's training. How fast do you think Blanks would be doing her training? 13:45?

Really? I think her body would break down. She seems to be doing well with her training, maybe better if she can ramp that training up more.
