We have merged two threads into 1 as we like to have 1 thread per topic. We don't need a thread on how she's running the 10,000 and then another on how she did. Here is a video of her on the final lap:
According to “Chrome”, it seems to happen everywhere. 32:56 would seem to warrant polite applause from a sitting position, but I wasn’t at the meet.
Spectators gave Tuohy a standing O, but she was winning the 10k totle, that doesn't seem unusual. The men's 10k also had people on their feet, and it was a fight to the end.
It seems pretty normal to stand and applaud a runner winning a conference title in a long race. I don't know why posters are highlighting this positively or negatively.

Exactly. It seems like just another day at the office.
Her time is irrelevant at a conference meet. the goal is to win and get the 10 points. The fact that you are uneducated on team track meet strategy makes your posts sound dumb. Go get a drink and chill. On the other hand, maybe layoff the booze when you’re on the boards.
KT has the speed to run sub 4 in the 1500 and she will more than likely be sub 14:40 with a year or two of being a pro.
It’s been explained to you that she is running times as fast or faster than nearly every current American pro that preceded her. The fact that you keep bringing up the same ol’ same ol’, tells me you’re just too obtuse to grasp that. TBH, I doubt that she really gives much of a thought about the 10 and won’t until she’s well into her career.
Meanwhile, you should just quit being so bitter that your precious little Suzie isn’t living up to your expectations. I know that you were probably counting on her as a meal ticket but that more than likely isn’t going to happen. Quit being so bitter. It’s not healthy and is a bad look for you.

If she has the speed to run sub-4 in the 1500, why doesn't she just do it! It would allow us to quit bickering here. She runs sub 4 and voila!!!! she has run sub-4 - ooos just one small problem - she is not fast enught to run sub-4 1500. Maybe a 4:04 which is possible for her - but Laura Muir is running 3:54. 4;04 ain't getting her on any podiums. a "runner-up". Maybe a participation trophy.
You tired jealousy act aside, if you are going to compare her to runners where they are subject to the pressures/practices of professional running at a younger age, at least try not to be obtuse. The NCAA is a safe harbour, but the projection you have to do is to calculate what a runner of Tuohy's clear natural talent would do in the pro club system they have in other countries where she would be subject to pro training at a younger age. The pattern in the US is different, with female distance runners having a later progression.
There is a simple solution for that. Just ignore the Tuohy related threads. No one is forcing you to read them. Invest energy in supporting the athletes that you like. Start a thread supporting them.
Of course Anger Management therapy could be another option to look into.
It would be great if Tuohy fans did the same. People like “gorun“ routinely hijack threads about other college female distance runner, to say that Tuohy is better.
Hold up. Centro gets bashed for winning the Olympics in 3:50 but Tuohy is praised for winning her conference meet in a pedestrian 32:56? Double standard
She has also been bashed.
Centro has also been praised.
People hear what they want to hear.
You’re a hater so you think she’s being praised too much.
Does it really matter?
I’m not a hater. Just calling out the inconsistency I’ve seen. It may be difficult for you to believe, but just because someone doesn’t fawn over Tuohy like a middle schooler, it doesn’t mean they’re a hater. There’s a whole spectrum of feelings in between worship and hate.

And to piggyback on this point, it should be clear to the intelligent that whatever performances an athlete delivers; this is still a somewhat black and white sport in the sense that we can see who runs fast or wins or whatever, and our opinions really don’t matter that much. So if some athlete has a cult like following, in the long run it is not that important compared to whether that athlete performs well or not. So let us not think they our silly opinions have much to do with the merits of an athlete.

Exactly. This thread is a total disconnect from reality. We actually had someone refer to it as a low key meet.
Meanwhile if you watch what is happening during the day, all of these schools are posting results during the afternoon field events like the javelin, which finished an hour or so ago. They are using those point tallies to decipher how it's going in regard to expectation and in regard to other schools, to see if they have a chance and -- if so -- what needs to happen. It impacts strategy. The social media posts have pointed toward this meet for weeks if not longer.
I realize this forum is time obsessed. And it's long been glaring that situational influence bewilders the public at large. But it's beyond laughable when these races are taken at face value, with time the sole consideration, instead of having a speck of a functioning brain cell clue toward what is actually going on.

Touché
I’m not an over an top Tuohy fan. As a matter of fact, there aren’t as many here as you think there are. It’s just that the few that are here make it seem as if there are a lot. The same can be said for some other runners as well. I can appreciate good performances from all runners and really can’t think of any that I don’t like.
You stated that Tuohy received praise for a mediocre performance in winning her conference meet while Centro wins Olympic gold in a pedestrian time yet is bashed. That may be true but but I have seen both receive praise and criticism. I’m one of the first that will defend Centro’s performance when he’s being bashed. I mean, seriously, what’s better than winning Olympic gold. Perhaps winning gold in WR time but, in general, time really doesn’t matter.
I’m just calling it as I see it and I don’t see the inconsistencies you allude to. As I mentioned, people hear what they want to hear.
The great thing about T&F is that it is not a subjective sport. In the finals, times really aren’t important. They can matter in qualifying heats but that’s not what we’re talking about here.
I rarely throw the first stone though, ya’ll can dish it out but can’t take it that’s for sure, ladies and gentlemen that is society in a nutshell these days!
