Yeah, but it's the way Carlson got fired that is important. Word in NYC is that he showed up in his limo on Monday morning, and the security guard told him his building access had been restricted. That's when Carlson knew something was up. So he called around to his subordinates and none of them took his calls. Finally, after 20 minutes of having his driver honk the horn, an HR rep came down and told him that he was being let go and would have to leave the premises per Fox policy. They went out of their way to humiliate Carlson.
If this is true, it's perfect. Symbolic of how Trump essentially turns his back on his most loyal supporters.

Good point. And it really is both amazing and disgusting that this very likely summarizes the situation:
- When we (Fox) knew, of course, that you were lying to our audience every night AND possibly doing not-insignificant harm to our country, we were fine with you. In fact, paid you a ton. And still called ourselves a news organization.
- But ONLY when we realized that you might be a financial liability did we cast you off - AND possibly in an unnecessarily rude way. Just because we're AH's, I guess.
Probably kind of sums up what the average "lib" (and others) think about the principles and ethics of your average large corporation.
(....and yet the "anti-Pharma" Trumpers can't manage to think the same about Fox and the Trump Org., and....)
Top-rated Fox News host Tucker Carlson has been abruptly fired from his choice primetime show on the network. Carlson has consistently been the only voice on...

They "parted ways" because although his abrasive, lie filled rants have been good for ratings, he just cost them 3/4 of a Billion dollars. He and the network are also being sued by another voting machine company he committed libel against. He and the network are also being sued for discrimination and a hostile workplace for women. They will likely lose all of these cases and it will cost Billions. Fox had to cut ties before it gets any worse. It is not some need by Fox to become a legitimate news source. They have proven they are fine with lies, but not with business losses.
I wasn't going to post on this thread because it's really just the usual partisan bickering, but here we go. Tucker Carlson is the Fox anchor least culpable in the Dominion case; on air, he invited Trump's lawyer to come on the show and produce evidence to support her claim that Dominion was involved in voter fraud. Translation: he publicly implied that there was no evidence to back those claims, which is consistent with the text messages produced in discovery. It doesn't make sense to fire him over the Dominion case.
Though I am confident that many liberals would find some of TC's views offensive or disagreeable, the popular perception of him as a hardline rightwinger is flawed. He was actually the most heterodox talking head at Fox. In October 2021, TC was the most-watched show among Democrates aged 25-54. This misunderstanding of TC is similar to misperceptions about Trump's voting base and his political messages. TC is frequently critical of key figures in the Republican party and recently told podcasters that the mainstream media, of which he is a member, constantly lies to the public on behalf of the establishment. He sometimes said these kind of things on Fox but was more careful to thread the needle. He probably crossed some invisible line and got fired. We're watching a political realignment and its backlash.

He was likely let go because of information available to Murdoch that Fox does not want to deal with contained in the bowels of the Abby Grossberg lawsuit.

What are you, his agent? He got fired because he cost them $787 million bucks for repeatedly lying on air, and because his private impressions of his audience and of Trump came out during the Dominion case.
He's an ongoing legal liability and he was no longer projected to be the revenue generator he was. Fox couldn't fire him during the Dominion trial for obvious reasons, but once they inked the settlement with Dominion, they canned him because he's a liability. No invisible line. He probably knew his days were numbered when his texts came out in the Dominion summary judgment brief. TERMINATION.
Moscow Carlson gets the boot one week after the Dominion settlement. It was either a provision that Dominion demanded in the settlement agreement, or the Fox board of directors didn't want to risk another $787 million down the road from more Carlson lies.
Carlson is done. Once you get slap-canned like this, you never come back to the big time. When was the last time anyone heard from O'Reilly?
Moscow Carlson fans go home DEVASTATED.
I'm all for cleaning up the media and getting back to real-true news reporting (if that's possible), but for CNN, MSNBC, and CNBC who glorified and personified divisive politics as well as pushing "Fake" news (Russia, Russia, Russia) before and during Trump's presidency and to now sit back and try to play the "Adult" in the room is laughable. As a conservative I respect the decision Fox made in firing Carlson, I also respect the decision CNN made in firing Lemon. Hopefully, both firings will clean up both Media outlets. That being said, no matter who reports the news, I hope they truly shine a light on how the Biden administration has devastated our country. It's not a Right/Left issue any longer. It's obvious to see in our everyday lives how incompetent our leadership is. Honestly, does anyone believe the Joe Biden/Kamala Harris duo is capable of running our country?

Right. This has nothing to do with Tucker's supposed *resisthtance to orthodocthies* (*Glenn Greenwald lisp*.)
Fox News has a long, sordid history with sexism/harassment in the workplace. Remember why Roger Ailes was pushed out? Bill O'Reilly? The few details from the Grossberg suit that are available suggest that Tucker and his incel buddies never got the memo to stop harassing female colleagues. If this is true, Fox can't afford to cover for them.
"In a lawsuit filed in the Southern District of New York, Grossberg accused Carlson and Fox of sexism and harassment, alleging that his show's workplace was replete with examples of misogyny. Her lawsuit claims, among other things, that mocked-up photographic images depicted then-U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "in a bathing suit revealing her cleavage" and that staffers were polled — on two separate occasions — on which of two female candidates for Michigan governor they would rather have sex with."
Fox News announced in an abrupt statement it will "part ways" with longtime host Tucker Carlson, seen by many as the face of the network's brand. The star figured prominently in the Dominion lawsuit.

No, I'm not his agent. I watched the relevant segment in which he says that Sidney Powell had no evidence that voting machines were used to flip votes. You can watch it yourself here:
On Thursday, Rudy Giuliani and a number of the president's other lawyers held a press conference on the topic of voter fraud. If you didn't actually see it, you've probably heard about it by now.

You need to be reviewing the April 11 pretrial order where Judge Davis said that Fox can’t bring up broadcasts where reporters accurately fact-checked Trump’s lies about the 2020 election, to prove that other broadcasts that amplified those lies weren’t defamatory: “you can’t absolve yourself of defamation by putting someone else on at a different time who told the truth.”
And you need to read Judge Davis ruling on summary judgment.
And you need to read some or all of the Carlson texts and emails that were attached to Dominion's motion for summary judgment. E.g., "I hate [Trump} passionately." "He’s a demonic force, a destroyer."
Once you read all that, you will have an understanding of why Fox canned Carlson days after the Dominion settlement. They had to. Then you can forget about whatever theories you had about invisible lines, political realignment and threading the needle.
Honest question because I don’t follow politics much… what has Biden done to make the country so bad? I am a Republican and want a democrat in office through the next election. Why? Because I pay $42,000 a year in property taxes but can only deduct $10,000 thanks to Trump. I am financially much worse off today than before the Don, despite all the rhetoric that he cut my taxes. Completely false. Donald Trump was terrible for me personally. I also have a gay child and the Republican Party has made made it pretty difficult for my kid to live comfortably in much of the country. So from my seat, I don’t see a lot of personal damage done to me since Biden has been in office. Oh… and I do believe if you’re being fair, Trump, Biden and the Fed are equally responsible for inflation, which has sucked for all.
Outside of those issues… though I hate all the rhetoric and nonsense… and may not agree with both side’s policies… my actual LIFE has not been affected by politics in many many many years.
Murdoch is smart. It's clear now that doomer-porn raging about San Francisco, LGBTQ, M&M mascots, and such is not going to win the election. A subset of Americans ardently watch that stuff (because they hate their lives) but they were gonna vote GOP anyway.

It is unfortunate that you got caught up in it, but that tax bill was the ultimate owning the blue states. Most of his base in red states got money back and the blue states got smacked around from their sales and property taxes.
