If poor people bring something to the table they stop being poor.
I don’t think the top .1% bring anything extra to the table that justifies their massive gains in wealth. Of course there are skilled positions that are going to accrue a higher salary. Software engineer, doctor, quant, lawyer, etc., but I don’t think the Elon Musks and Jeff Bezoses of the world deserve to make a bajillion times more. The GDP seems to grow due to population growth and productivity growth, both of which are generated by regular workers. Bezos didn’t single handedly engineer the entire Amazon supply chain, but he gets paid like he did. I don’t think any single person is worth more than a few million a year. No human being provides more value than that.
How do you think they got their money?
People gave it to them in exchange for their product/service or they invested in their companies because they saw its value and wanted to get in on it.
I fundamentally disagree with you that people aren't worth more than a few million a year.
People are not equal. Mike Tyson was a .1% boxer. Michael Jordan was a .1% basketball player. The Jeff Bezos's and Elon Musk's of the world are much much much more talented at what they do than anyone else. They didn't just fall into their billions.
I am not overly enthused by several of the Democratic candidates on our local slate. But Republicans have become so deranged/deluded, whatever you want to call their view of the country and world, that they persuaded me to do something I've never done: vote a straight-color ticket (in this case blue). And it was an easy decision.

I'd bet a lot of money you couldn't articulate what about them is "deranged/deluded" and if you even bothered to try your answer would be a caricature of their actual positions.

Desantis 'Don't Say Gay' Law.
There are still TONS of Republicans vehemently against gay marriage. Some still get squeamish over bi-racial marriage.

I think you and many others have melded human worth with capitalistic worth. Some things are worth more to humanity than they are to a company. That’s why we have a government whose job it is to represent our interests.
Of course certain people are in the top .1% of whatever they do. That doesn’t mean that the top .1% deserve to be paid a bajillion times more than everyone else. I believe they deserve more money than a person in the 50th or 75th or 95th percentile, but I don’t think they deserve 1000 times more or whatever the number actually is. To think the Elon provides as much value to humanity as a million middle class workers (100 billion divided by 100 thousand) is ridiculous. He didn’t even cure cancer.

And I win.
You have absolutely no idea what that law actually says.
So you think wealth is finite and no one can get a larger slice of the pie without taking from someone else?
I don’t have any economics education other than a 100 level class where my liberal professor gave us The Price of Inequality which argues from a pretty liberal perspective. Essentially, inequality leads to rent seeking and monopolizing which encourages the richest people to take a large share from the pie instead of making the pie bigger.
But I’m not exactly sure how the pie gets bigger. I know Keynesian economics has some sort of government spending built in to continually increase total money supply, but I’m otherwise not sure how money funneling upwards isn’t functionally a zero sum game. Money doesn’t just appear, right? We can agree that money doesn’t just appear. It has to be government debt, other countries we sell things to, etc. As usual, I’m inviting someone smart and educated to explain things, but I’m usually pretty disappointed by the result.

I think me and many others are just being honest while you are pretending the truth doesn't exist because it isn't fair. If you give a normal person a million dollars they will quit their job and go shopping or go on vacation. The million gets dumped right back into the pool. When you give an Elon Musk or a Jeff Bezos a million dollars they invest in their ideas and they generate more wealth. They employ thousands of people. They save people time and money which frees up people's resources for other things. It used to take 6 weeks to get a delivery from a store. Amazon has same day delivery. Every business on earth that ships things has sped up their delivery process to compete. That's worth a lot. Is there some number beyond which having more money is pointless? Probably. But what we do know with 100% certainty is that the Musk's and Bezos's of the world will invest their money and if the government seized it it would be flushed right down the toilet or stolen.

So you get off over claiming message board 'wins'? Are you even an Adult? That's really your first response? 'I Win?' Grow up.
I can read:
'Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.'
Because SOOOOOOO many schools are talking about gender identity in those grades!
It is a bill used by Desantis to get his name in the paper and stir up a response. Nothing more. He loves his own press. He does lots of wild and crazy things in order to position himself as some sort of Conservative Icon. He is a tool.

Therein is the issue. Nobody actually knows what the law says, or rather, it's not clear to teachers what they might lose their job over while trying to address very real problems some of their students are dealing with.
To paraphrase Dr Oz, teacher/student conversations regarding sexual orientation in Florida schools are "between the teacher, the student, and local political leaders".

You couldn't help yourself but prove Adult's point. Which law states that saying the word "gay" isn't allowed? I'll hold my breath while you find it.

Why would any decent human being want strangers teaching 6-8 year olds about sex of any kind??
Schools ARE teaching gender identity. You being ignorant about it doesn't mean it isn't happening.
I couldn't care less about gay marriage. What people do in their private lives is their own business.

It's the teacher's union's job to explain this to teachers. Instead they lie about what the law actually says to push their political agenda.

I’m not pretending that capitalism doesn’t exist. I don’t know how you get that from what I’m saying. I’m well aware of the system we currently live in. I know why Bezos and Musk have the wealth they have. I’m calling into question the idea that they are providing that much value to humanity. Of course two day shipping is great. We have many supply chain engineers, industrial engineers, software engineers, etc at Amazon to think for that. Meanwhile Jeff has more wealth than every engineer at Amazon combined. He gets compensated like he did half of the company’s work when he really did a small percentage of the work, even if that small percentage was important. A human being can only do so much individually.

There's a difference between teaching about sex and acknowledging that someone could have 2 mothers or that a child shouldn't be ashamed of his or her (or their) 2 fathers holding hands.
I live in one of the most "liberal" areas in the country and no woke teacher taught my kids about sex. As they got older they might have been taught that people use different pronouns. All this does is open up dialogue between parents and their kids.

It is talked about in elementary schools and it is wrong. Hence the legislation. Glad to see boomers like you who support sexual orientation instruction in kindergarten.
