Boys 1600 meter Run Varsity How the freshmen did: Dickran 4:26. Only 3 seconds behind Doshi. N Sloan 4:34. Was the 5th nonsenior year but juniors Guevara and Schohn (first 2 off varsity last year) didn’t race. Bernardino 4:44 B Sax 4:57. He wasn’t that great at cross but he might be related to Tiffany, so I’m not surprised he got this much better. Hopefully he continues to step up and help the rest of this class out. Paul Kamboj 5:14 in the 9/10 race.
Others that did not run here but will be worth watching in the future NP Freshman Shearer who ran a 17:17 at the Temecula Twilight (as mentioned earlier) Younger Cantu (current 8th grader who ran a 4:39 1600 last year. Don’t know if he will go to NPHS though)

Dickran now 4:25 and 1:57(???). 1:57 makes him #3 in the nation (freshmen). How many HSs are there in the US? What are the odds that NP gets a top 3 freshman?
worth mentioning Freshman Caden Leonard from Southlake again. he just ran a 14:33 track 5000 at the Texas Distance Festival last night. he has also run 4:15/9:12 so far this Spring.

Just started getting on my radar. Super impressive stuff. Might be a candidate for first sophomore to break 4 next year. Is he old for his grade or just bonkers talented (or both)?

Also worth mentioning:
Tostenson: 4:09 mile last year (grade 9) has only run a 4:12 mile this year.
Recupero: 4:07 (1600)/9:00 (3200) last year (grade 9) has only run a 4:19 (1600) this year
Keegan Smith: 8:52 (3200) last year (grade 9) has only run a 9:14 (3200) this year.

I'm not sure his age. He's mega talented and dad is one of the top HS coaches in the country. I don't believe he was pushed along at all, he wasn't on many radars because he wasn't running any of the big national middle school or junior olympic type stuff. 8th grade mile was just 4:49.
he is a very mature and savvy runner already. I watched him 4 laps in looking over and talking to Kevin Sanchez, Adam Burlison, and Ayden Granados probably telling them to work together so they all could go fast. as he talked to each front runner it was pretty funny when they were looking back pained I can't believe you are talking to me. :D
This thread has deviated so far from its original purpose. Supposed to be about people not in high school yet. Now it’s morphed into “who are the best freshman boys.” Need to start a new thread.
His 1600m time would already rank him 4th in NP non seniors (ahead of Watson and Dickran).
He will be on the varsity team as a freshman in 2023.
He will be the best incoming NP freshman ever (but in 2023)
Actually, I think it will be hard for him to do. This team will be very deep next year with transfers such as Herrera (even though they lost their front-loaded talent), and there will be seniors fighting for the last varsity spot(s)
