Biden and Obama are the reason this war is happening...
Trump tried to "divide the west" by asking NATO to pay more for defense and stop relying on Russian energy?
Your position is logically incoherent.
You can hate the scary orange man without saying things that have no basis in reality.
Obama and Biden gave Russia Georgia. They made "red lines" in Syria and then did nothing when they were crossed. They gave Russia the Crimea. They toppled the pro-Ukrainian government.
The "leadership" you're so proud caused this mess.
yes, absolutely Trump tried to strengthen NATO and commercial and social+political ties between Europe and the US. He placed a very high value on diplomacy and uniting the West. You are 100% right, ace. Nailed it.
/sarcasm
Obama was great pals with Europe. He held their hands while they did NOTHING together when Putin took Georgia and the Crimea.
You have no idea what you're talking about, ace.
Russia's economy is fossil fuels. Leftist morons raison'd'etre of destroying fossil fuels in the west directly strengthens Russia.
Why is it not possible to hate Trump without being a moron?
as for what's good for America....this is pretty good. The world will again want American leadership after the disastrous Trump years. Tryannies will look at the impoverished Russian nation and think 3 or 4 times before inviting that upon themselves.
the West has been revived as a unit, after Trump tried to divide it, and America will benefit from that.
It seems that most of the Ukraine refugees now being allowed into the U.S. at San Diego were forced to stay in Mexico by the former administration. New incoming refugees will have an easier path to come to the U.S. where there are Americans in many states ready to accept them.
pretty good thread on a silver lining from this war: Europe is now accelerating movement toward renewable energy. Making Russia a nation that has to create things instead of dig them out of the ground will make the world a much better place in all ways.
Will Russia's invasion of Ukraine accelerate Europe's energy transition?
There's a direct relationship between the likelihood of something suffering from Dunning-Kruger and how often they mention it.
Trump lost an election with 99% of media openly campaigning against him in the midst of a fabricated Russian hoax scandal. The fact that the election was still decided by a few thousand votes should give you people a little perspective.
China is the real enemy. Russia will never become a super power again. Putin knows this. He just doesn't want NATO on his border putting missiles defense systems everywhere undermining the only thing that gives Russia relevance.
hey you know that the trump campaign worked with Russia, right?
Just checking.
Hillary Clinton and the DNC created a fake dossier with Russia.
Hunter Biden was literally on Russia's payroll. Joe Biden met with oligarch's after Hunter profited off setting up the meeting being sure to set aside 10% for "the big guy".
The New York Times just admitted the laptops are real and you're still pushing the discredited hoax BS.... LOL!
You are so invested in your team you can't accept reality.

Biden is FILTHY corrupt and we have the receipts.
so...you aren't aware the trump campaign worked with russian intelligence.

I am curious. What exactly did you expect Obama to do about Crimea?
Well, this thread is devolving into a political one by the work of one poster, who is managing to get responses from people who should know better.
Guilty as charged. I’ll try harder to ignore him.
A timeout from posting would be appropriate. Maybe LRC has the ability to do a per thread timeout rather than one on all forum threads.
It was obvious a poster was going to try to devolve the thread. What it tells you is that they few materials to post about the conflict. What they do have is an endless supply of political materials to post that someone is providing to them.

Be specific
Crimea didn't happen out of the blue. Russia wants control of it's own border and it wants a buffer from NATO.
The US has declared the entire western hemisphere is it's buffer.
Putin has said the same thing for 18 years now. No NATO in Ukraine.
The US and the west have pushed NATO further and further east.
Obama literally toppled the government of Ukraine which directly resulted in Putin taking Crimea.
Most posters here will be shocked to discover Crimea was part of the Ukraine.
The US topples Ukraine's government and Putin immediately takes Crimea. He said he did it because the naval base at Sevastopol that the USSR built would never be a part of NATO.
Bad foreign policy caused this. More bad foreign policy won't help either.

You do realize we're on the internet right? If you don't know a fact you can google it... or even better use an engine that isn't openly biased.
You being too lazy to look things up doesn't mean other people have someone providing it to them.... LOL

A conversation between then Ambassador to Ukraine Jeffrey Pyatt and Obama State Dept. official Victoria Nuland, reveals the two plotting what appears to be a coup d'état against Ukrainian government officials
My gut tells me Zelenskyy is going to capitulate. This fight is not going to last. That is to say, he will meet certain Russian demands. Meanwhile, Russia is going to have to give up some of its goals.
I'm *not* saying the Ukrainians can't win, or hold off the Russians further, I'm saying it might become clear to Zelenskyy the cost of holding off from agreeing to an armistice with Russia, is too high. A week ago he wouldn't even talk to Moscow, now he wants to. But it depends on Putin Is Putin willing to talk? I hope so. This is the best possible outcome for Ukraine. They made a good show of it, dealt Russia a bloody nose. Now it’s time for both Putin & Zelenskyy to talk diplomacy.

Ukraine has enough help from U.S./N.A.T.O. weapons for it to appear Ukraine can possibly win but Ukraine cannot.
Get off the fence. Are you afraid to state the truth? If you are a U.S. citizen, attempting to prop up Ukraine with some weapons is a waste of money. Ukraine cannot win. Ukraine needs to do what they will do. Surrender. People are dying who do not need to die.
Sixty year old Ukrainian infantrymen. That's not going to last long.
