Growing up my dad would take the belt to me whenever I took a cookie out of the jar past 9pm. He told me straight "boy, if I catch you in that cupboard getting a cookie past 9, you're gonna get it" But 8 year old me still wanted that cookie. So I still did it. Never got caught. Except one night I knocked over a spoon that was on the counter and he caught me literally with my hand in the cookie jar. I got the beating of a lifetime. Stupid rule. But I knew the consequences.

Frankly, their statement should have validated Sha'carri's difficult situation with losing her mom, acknowledge that she took the cbd in a legally in her state, and maybe have even said that they will try with everything in their power to keep her in the Olympic spot she earned.
