Hadn’t been made public if they are.

That's right kiddie.... Boomer's know best! Learn from your successful elders... If you want a family - you wait until you put your time in like we did and wait until the time is right. Or don't live in Big cities where it is tougher to make it work. Coaching is a passion.... Not for money
which Miami?

Already very successful and don’t want a family…...you see the divorce rate these days!! Just looking out for those getting into the professions and not to be taken advantage of with not getting paid or paid starvation wages for years because “we had to go through”. Passion is an absolute must in coaching, that I 1000% percent agree with you on but that doesn’t mean you should forgot how much value your time and effort is worth even for you!!!

You are correct--the labor of volunteers add real value to programs and that value goes without financial compensation. Sometimes volunteers add more value than paid staff. Absolutely an unfair situation.
However, there is in fact indirect compensation for somebody willing to volunteer--they will 100% have a leg up in the job market down the road compared to another young coach who refused to be exploited. I've worked with many volunteers--all of them eventually found paid jobs.
The real problem is that there is no mechanism (outside a very few programs) to force the administration to grow the salary pool in order to compensate volunteers. Administrators do not care if volunteer labor disappears. They see volunteers as a frill that comes with elevated risk--volunteers are barely vetted and have a lot less to lose by breaking rules, sleeping with athletes, badmouthing other staff, etc.
So, the problem will persist because there is logic to the system. There's value for the head coach and there's value for the volunteer. And there's no possible way to pressure the administration to spend more money on staff, because they don't care if volunteers disappear. They'd probably prefer it.

I seriously doubt this is the way this round of realignment will go.
Stanford and Cal (Stanford especially) do not want to be associated with what is essentially the MWC.
Who loves ya, Baby!
Well there is going to be a merger announcement coming soon
There will be one or two wrinkles in the fold but a merger must happen
It's doubtful it will be advertised though the Coach who is departing will be announced by the school who hired him in the near future I assume.

This TX St position only showed up online today, outside of their HR website (I saw it on Indeed first time today). But was posted on HR website on 8/3 and has a close date of today at midnight on 8/18. I think whomever they are hiring they already had locked and loaded and never had it advertised publicly until 24hrs before the job closes so nobody else even knew about it or could apply!
It was posted on higheredjobs.com on August 4th and closes on August 18th. That's two weeks which is normal especially this time of year! Not sure what you mean by your post.
