Perfect example of "PUT THE SALARY!" Or at least a range. This job could pay $30k or $90k. No clue and they probably won't discuss it until you get an offer, at which point you might have wasted 6 weeks of jumping through their hoops.

Agree 100%!! But, if you agree with this then why do so many coaches recruit athletes for hours, have them come in for a visit then finally offer them a scholarship which is terribly low …. Is that not a waste of the coaches and athletes time? why not tell the athlete upfront before the visit this is what I am slotting for you based on your current times and recommendations. If you do this and follow this rule, you will sign 90% of the athletes who visit your campus. ask the athlete this before they visit. If you can say YES to these three questions, then let’s set up a visit:
1. do we have an academic program you are interested in majoring in?
2. can you afford this University based on the scholarship i am offering you?
3. are you willing to attend a university in (name the city / state) usually applies to athletes from far away
if the athlete answers yes to all three of those questions, nine out of 10 times you will sign them! Mark it down - good luck
I heard they were looking at hiring two positions, one sprints, one distance. Then making one of them director. If the distance coach is director, the sprints jobs is “head track,” if the sprints coach is director, the distance coach is “head XC.” I don’t know how you conduct interviews when the candidate thinks they might be the director and would get to make their own hire, but athletic directors make dumb decisions about non-revenue sports without repercussions, all the time!

So you are offering the scholarship dollars before they visit campus?
What if they visit and you decide they aren't a good fit for your program?
