I happen to agree with you on this. Not nearly enough people have been thinking seriously about what it would mean if Trump were to leave before the end of his elected tenure.
We would have a President Pence--a man who actually would welcome the end of the world--with his finger on the nuclear button, and a man who would be sincere in fighting for the more theocratic government that Trump only pays cynical lip service to.
As it happens, I also agree that if President Trump were impeached (quite unlikely in my view), he ought to be acquitted--unless major crimes are found, which I've not yet seen the evidence for. When Clinton was impeached, I thought at the time (and think now) that that was correct; and I thought/think the same about his subsequent acquittal. IF all that can be proved against Trump is the Cohen-related stuff, THEN once again I think impeachment & acquittal would be appropriate.
