For "leaders" with clearly fatal flaws, grading is a really dumb endeavor (at least beyond just saying "F").
Can we find "good" things that Hitler or Stalin did? Probably. Would anyone seriously/credibly argue that they deserve better than an F? No.
Trump's list of fatal flaws became long enough to put him in that category long, long ago (even if he's nowhere near the leader board).

While I get what Sen Paul is trying to say, (and it is deeply disturbing, even as it is no longer surprising), it is odd that he used such historically inaccurate terminology.
The last "legitimate" czar of Russia was "Saint" Nicholas II who was assassinated in 1918. The Soviet Union was founded in 1922, four years after Nicholas' death. So, nobody in the Soviet Union ever "(had) to be nice to the czar."

the idea is that the chinese manufacturer will lower prices to cover some of the tariff, the US importer will lose some profit to cover some of the tariff, the retailer will eat some more of it, and the final price rise to the consumer isn't the full 145%.

Markets are up today for the wrong reasons. Unemployment claims came in higher than expected, which the stock market likes because it indicates that inflationary pressures will be easing (i.e. people are broke and can't buy things). Also, AI and tech companies reported some decent numbers. Mortgage rates are falling because demand for home sales is dropping.
Ultimately, markets are betting that Trump folds on most of his tariffs before they have a big macroeconomic effect and that Trump will deliver on tax breaks and decimating pesky regulators that go after nice people who dump chemicals into the river upstream from the kids' summer camp and run crypto pump and dump schemes. And markets have basically become resigned to the reality that everyone is going to take a big haircut on profits in order to move their inventory and that will hopefully be just a temporary charge.
But if the Trump tariffs come roaring back after his 90 day pause and little movement is made in working out trade deals, then buckle up. Businesses will slash production and hike prices just to try and stay alive. There will be a very big recession and stagflation that will persist as long as Trump's tariffs are in place. We are currently living on borrowed time.
