Rasmussen has it at 50% this morning. If the other polls also rise just a bit to eliminate the results from a few weeks ago in the 30s, we'll be looking at a mid-40s poll-of-polls figure pretty soon. It sounds crappy, but remember Obama's average for his entire 8 years was just 47%, and he won handily over Romney. So these numbers are always worse than they really are with regard to actual voting support.

Just a thought here, how much of Trump's wealth do you think is related to the stock market, and how much do you think is related to real estate holdings? My guess is that a stock market drop doesn't have a huge impact on him personally, so he doesn't really care how the market does.

The Dow was in the mid 26,000 range in January.

It has lost about 3,000 points almost entirely from Trump's policy announcements and tweets.

That is really unprecedented.

This is 50% of a shrinking GOP base. The rest don't bother to participate in GOP polls because they are fed up and swinging to the left. So it's about 50% of 25% that remains steadfast enough to Trump to bother to respond.

Translation: you know nothing about the markets. 12% drops absolutely do NOT happen all the time, and when they happen it's mostly due to underperforming economic data or high risk global events. Both Dow and S&P have moved below their 200-day moving averages, they are officially in correction territory - which is entirely happening because of Trump's twitter fetish and low IQ.

He is not a thinking man, so even if it directly affected his wealth he is obviously willing to sabotage it to boost his ego. I would guess any investments in financial instruments would be in REITs, but yes most of his entanglements are in real estate (or high interest private debt in his case).

We can look at some facts.

Trump announced a trade war and tariffs on steel an aluminum.

The markets dropped because that would mean an increase in steel and aluminum prices, which would hurt the bottom line of any industry that uses that and only helps the steel and aluminum industry.

(Hurts more than it helps)

Trump announced an attack on Amazon, saying they pay too little to the USPS.

That's a pretty big company. A lot of people rely on the cheap shipping costs to order from them.

The government not being friendly to business is scaring some investors.

So, let's think of a situation in the past where a president made an announcement of policy that directly caused a big market drop.

We know the market dropped in 2008 when Congress first failed to pass TARP. But that's not a policy change, that's a reaction to doing nothing.

1) Rasmussen is the most biased for conservatives.

2) Average of all polls has him at 42.1%

3) Shouldn't get so geeked about polls. Most were clearly wrong the last time. I will have to see better accuracy in results before I put as much stock in them in the future. Of course, 2016 could have been an anomaly with Russian help. time will tell.

Without question the latest tanking has to do with Trump's comments and policy actions. This is rarely the case with a US President, but he has made this happen because he is beyond stupid. No President compares to him in that way.

At the same time (note to Conservatives and Trumpers) the market rise in the first year of his presidency had a lot to do with his deregulation policies and his favorable-to-companies tax reform.

So, volatility. Seems about right that he would help create that.

He said he would surround himself with the best people. Well, in most cases that wasn't true, but he doesn't take their advice anyway.

His level of incompetence has never before been seen.

Repubs and their double standard. Many claim to have overlooked the moral issues because he's an outsider who would carry out their policies. Anytime he gets himself in trouble suddenly others have done worse so we shouldn't call him out?!

Lets clearly establish something, there is no equivalent between Trump and any president before him. He was and has been held to a different standard by his supporters so he is of a different breed. Nobody is like the Orange One, so any attempt to compare to anyone else is pure failure to own your vote. If you drank his cool aid, you stay in the boat while it sinks.

I don't think I'll ever stop laughing when I think about his claim that "We might be 20 trillion in debt, but the stock market has created 7.5 trillion in wealth since I got elected, so we're already making good progress at eliminating the debt"
