Trump needs a good team of lawyers. Frankly, he needs the best money can buy because his business, reputation, and freedom are at stake.

The really "good" lawyers Trump has tried to hire refuse to take the case. The few "good" lawyers he had are now gone.

So why won't these top-shelf lawyers take the case? For some, it is conflict of interest. But that still leaves a lot of really good ones he could hire.

Normally, lawyers would be falling all over themselves to take the president as a client. They'd do it just to boost their reputation. That's not happening here.

But the usual reason a lawyer takes a case is money. Almost any lawyer can be bought. Even if they don't like the case for other reasons, they will do the work if you offer a big enough retainer.

But Trump apparently can't come up with a huge retainer. Trump apparently can't afford to hire top representation. Why would a billionaire have this kind of problem? Why would even a multi-millionaire have this kind of problem?

I can only think of one reasonable explanation.

This is possible, especially due to his love of debt. US Banks already know he's a loan risk, so they will no longer loan him money, and his need/want of money is likely what got him in trouble with Russia.

I would say too though that it is also likely no respectable lawyer wants to take his case now because they see how hopeless it would be to win and also, he has shown he doesn't follow the advice of lawyers. He is just a grade A ass, so who would want to work for him if they didn't have to?
