I've noticed you're posting during the day today, not at night like normal. Did you switch shifts at work? Hopefully a promotion was in order.

Thing is, you always harp about the election. The election is over. We get it. Trump won. We don't even dispute it.

Problem is, governing is hard stuff. And Trump's made a LOT of mistakes. He took a good economy and is strangling it. Markets down. Unemployment up. Consumer confidence cratering. Experts are telling us there are product shortages coming up starting in May, as container ships are showing up without our normal imports.

All of this is very concerning to most of us. We don't care about pronouns or woke. We care about people losing jobs, losing their retirement savings, lives destroyed, all because one guy doesn't understand how tariffs and the broader economy work.

So maybe instead of re-hashing old history about the election, move forward with us into 2025.

The tariffs are like a hose spraying water to the middle of a glass smooth pool. The waves have not propagated to the edge of the pool yet, but they cannot be stopped now even if the water hose is shut off.

Factories have cut production and laid off workers, especially automotive. Foreign cars are being held at port with new shipments halted. Shipping container throughput at ports is already down 40+% on the west coast. Trucking, trains, shipping, longshoremen, will all soon see furloughs and layoffs. Retail & service industries will follow.

In a month or two, stock will run low and we will experience covid like shortages and price increases. The longer tariffs continue, the longer the shortage, inflation, and obviously consumer price increase directly from tariffs last.

Inflation is typically a one way street. Prices stay up once established.

It takes time (months) to re-establish the supply chain if tariffs return to reasonable levels.

Unfortunately, this economic disaster is already in motion.
