It’d be an embarrassment if they couldn’t win NCAAs in XC in the near future when they’re signing 40-50 men+women a year all among the top high schoolers in the country. A buffoon could accidentally get a podium finish with that roster and those infinite resources, would be a pathetic look for Carlson if he can’t win with that.

I don’t know how they’re able to afford so many kids unless a good portion of them are on partials and some on nothing and walking on. Not even programs like NAU, Stanford, BYU, Alabama can afford this many top high school recruits.

They are using NIL money. They have no technical limit to how many scholarships they have. Just how much NIL fundraising money they have.
Most schools have focused all their NIL money on football. You get more bang for your buck in sports like track, where most schools are only spending scholarship money. Throw enough $$ at it, and you can buy yourself a national championship.101 -

Are you referring to Illini XC alum Zach Dale? Dale boasts a powerful coaching resume and has an eagle eye for top talent both domestically and overseas. The only questions is if Illinois has enough cap space Dale.

While Dale is a great choice, I simply do not believe that the Illini have put up enough 3's for Dale to come home. However, there have been rumors Dale has been on campus recently, possible meeting with Petros so who knows...

Illini found their XC/Distance coach today and it is not Chip or Dale lol. Rumor I heard It is a very well respected veteran coach that will help the Illini bring back success in XC and distance.
