The commentating is horrible. How do they not tell us the points? Each second is worht about 6 points. SO the GErman needs to win by 3 seconds.

If you don't grow up throwing a ball (baseball, football, cricket), throwing a javelin is not a natural thing to do. Back in the day, US high school and college track coaches would poach their jav throwers from the baseball team, pitchers especially.

So these guys all look like they should be able to throw 60+ but many can't. They look like none of them should run a sub 5 1500 but they all can.

Pretty cool to see the Dec come down to the 1500! So often it seems to be a meaningless add-on to the other events. Congrats to Kaul.

Wow! I'm impressed you could remember all those names and times. You missed a few details: Cranny's SB/PB is 4:05.83, so you need to drop her, and add Alexa, who ran 4:04.06 in May. McGee's PB/SB is 4:04.14, and Coburn's is 4:04.40.

Thank-you. Yeah, I made a few errors in there. Also, as someone mentioned add Martinez (4:03 PB) if she stays healthy and on her feet in a race. Charlene Lipsey (4:04) under as well. Maybe even Jones/Hurta emerge as well next year. Also Quigley (4:03 PB). That's 17 runners.

We might have a few 4:01-4:03 runners at the trials next year not even make a final. This has to be the hardest team to make men or women distance. I'm guessing Grace/Martinez/Lipsey go with the 800m, with Schneider/Purrier/Cranny at 5k (-1 spot if Houlihan can double at the games) and obviously Coburn/Quigley at steeple. That's still at least 9 of them for the 1500m.

This 400m race reminds me of London 2012 W1500m.

Doped to the gills. Check the times from Jackson and the US girls.

Hull ran a nice PB (4:01.8). Nanyondo of Uganda clearly cut her off, but not sure if it would be enough for a DQ and I doubt they would protest. Nice end to a long season for her with a PB. I just watched the semi. Simpson ran so smart. Hull ran a fast time in a fast race and should be happy with her PB, but you could see which athlete was in their 7th WC and which was in their 1st. Simpson just cruised in on the rail (probably ran the least distance of all of the athletes in the heat). Even though she won the heat, she probably spent considerably less energy than most of those she beat as she didn't spend a lot of time changing gears and trying to run around people. Go back and watch pretty much every turn, Simpson ran 5 of the 7 on the rail (the two times she came off were on the first lap when she was establishing position and one turn where she was passing a fading Nanyando), Hull is on the outside every single turn except the first (sometimes outside of two others). Hull might have run faster over 1500 meters than Simpson. Her issue is she ran an extra 15 meters. Hiltz pretty much shadowed Jenny and ran inside on 3 turns, which was probably the reason she was able to get past Hull on the final straight. Jenny continues to impress at her advanced age.

She is the female Nick Willis.

That's because Aussies and Brits are a lot slower than a doped up Norde, so they're never around him in races.
