What a load of pretentious pseudo-science. Try running for 4 minutes while holding your breath. Never heard the expression - "gasping for air"? You are obviously not a runner. The oxygen you take in as you breathe replaces what you are burning up in your bloodstream - until that is depleted as your effort increases. It's called oxygen-debt. In which case you are done. Or unless you have extra supplies of oxygen in your bloodstream because you are on EPO's. Then you don't need as much replacement oxygen as you breathe. Like Tefera has just shown us.
The quote you posted literally says that obviously there is a difference between holding your breath vs wearing a mask vs having mouth slightly open, or did you not bother to read it?
