I disagree with you. They had Felix, with years of experience with the championship pressure, sandwiched between the two least experienced runners on the team and those two hand-offs (and Felix's run) were close to flawless. You can't argue against a gold medal. This isn't a training event for the future. The qualifying rounds is where you give the younger sprinters championship experience, which is what occurred.

I'm glad you disagree. Her run was "flawless" because the US women are the class of the field this year. Nobody was going to come close. At some point you have to stop rewarding experience and put your faster athletes on the relay because they have earned it. Allyson isn't going to be there forever and they are robbing more deserving women of their opportunity to step into a leadership role.

Often when one hamstring cramps, the other one does too, which has happened to me a few times.

I've had plenty of injuries that pull me up but I can walk on. I think half of you guys are couch potatoes.

I think the burden of proof is on you. Prove that Bolt had a real injury. Because all i saw was an obvious acting job once Bolt realized he wasn't going to win.

That is probably the first race in the past decade that Bolt knew he wasn't going to win within the first 10 meters. And he predictably pulled up with an injury. How very convenient.

It looked like a real injury (or at least a cramp), he reacted like it was a real injury, and why would a person want to pull up lame during their last career race, when he was in a good position to get at least another medal?

If you think Bolt can't handle losing, why didn't he pull up injured in the 100 also? There would be MORE reason to fake an injury in the 100 -- not as many people paid attention to this race.

As to your comment as to no similar races in the last decade, he was nearly in an identical situation at World Relays with the USA in the lead (I think it was 2015) and didn't fake an injury then.. and lost..

You can't just decide that Bolt was faking, and because that's your opinion, it's everyone else's burden to disprove it. That's no way to convince anyone of anything.

Most teams that didnt medal were just happy to be in the final. Only Bolt had the gold-or-bust scenario, heightened by his 100 m bronze. And no one else had the ego of Bolt (justifiably, but still) which would allow them to screw over the rest of the team to try and save their own face.

Ah, you all are watching NBC proper, not online seeing it all. Edris went over and raised and hugged the weeping Mo Farah. See it all, contribute to track coverage, or whine a lot and make interpretations from far far more limited watching. I may be annoyed by NBC a lot even after paying, and there is no announcing, but the context of seeing more and no cut-aways is worth it. Oh, and sending them a few $ a meet to be sure they get the cameras out there next time. Paying for it with my cancelled T&F News subscription now that LR exists. :-)

Better yet, why would he purposely pull in a race where 3 other people were counting on him. You have to be real selfish to do that. It was definitely legit.

Bolt looked in terrible agony. On the BBC they zoomed in and played his run in slow mo multiple times and dissected it.

If Bolt faked that, he needs to make his next career acting. Just instant cramp or a pull in his hamstring, couldn't take another stride properly and crumpled down into the track.

His face went from determination to instant agony just as he was about to start getting into his running and he shouted f*ck. Looked in pain and then sadness immediately.

He got up after being attended to by the medical team and they wanted to take him out in the wheelchair, he started trying to limp around to the crowd to do a final lap/farewell but he couldn't make it.

Went down to the floor again and looked in despair. Sad scenes.

what champion bolt is . he knew it wasn't about him . it was great britains relay team moment and he let them have it . there will never be another like him . champion on the track and off it .

Bolt is an actor. Every time out on the track is a little performance. Today was his curtain call.

He was going to get third at best. Would he screw his teammates out of a potential bronze to give himself an excuse? I have no doubt.

He already screwed over his relay teammates by not seriously training in preparation for these championships. He thought he could get by on talent and moxie. Almost did too. But came up just short and better to claim injury than admit defeat.
