Then again, it's the same group of people who think guys like Solinsky and Yorks are "jacked" when in reality they are just slightly less scrawny than typical distance waifs.

That being said, Ziemek only has a 49.04 PB at 400m, so he will lose a lot of ground to Eaton in the next event.

Granted, except that the other 2 guys are at PB level or near PB level in all 4 events today. Eaton has been very much below PB level today. That has to factor in the projections somehow. Not saying that they will beat Eaton, but they are certainly making it interesting.
He did a ton of eight lifting in the off season then shred a lot of it even though he still looks big. Less worthy but still big. It's really helped overall

Ziemek, 49.30 in first heat, near PB. But he probably needed to get a PB.

I understand that. But what I meant is that Taiwo and Ziemek are in form right now (when compared with their own PB), whereas Eaton is not.
Yes, Eaton grabbed back the lead after 5 events.
However, Eaton was 1.30 away from his PB at 400m, as compared to 0.93 for Taiwo (who basically blew his chance for a the decathlon victory as a result of his performance at 400m. He needed to PB) and 0.26 for Ziemek.
Since Eaton is off form. You can expect him to be far away from his PB in day 2 also. Obviously, unlike Ziemek and Taiwo, Eaton did not have to peak for this meet.
Scantling, presently in 4th, seriously hurt his chances of earning an Olympic qualifying spot during the 400m. He ran 51.04, which is 2.00 away from his PB.
He will have a rough night.
