Cam Levins just ran a 190 mile week

So, even with 53 at the end of a big session, you are still going to stick with 51 in your formula? because most runners do 400s in workouts that are 2 sec slower than their 400 PR?

canova posted the 400 abilities in training of lots of guys he coaches or advises, slowest of 26'52, with nick kemboi, who he actually coached to 26'30, listed as 51.5 - the kemboi who's 26'30 was in a painfully slow race in last 2k when geb slowed down to protect his wr, when both couda gone 26'20, wr being 26'22

if your peabrain can't understand that a 26'20 - 26'30 guy can have no better than 51.5 speed, then f*ck off & find some remedial classes

But we are talking about Cam Levins not these other guys, and I restste, based on what I have seen, that Levins is a sub50 guy. You can take very small samples from around the world to support your thesis (51sec) till the cows come home, but you are misguided on this.

But your proof of him being a sub-50 guy is just a bunch of examples of him running slower than 50. Ventolin posted a 400 PRs of guys who can close JUST AS FAST AS CAM yet don't have sub-50 speed. So why should we believe that he can run 49.x or even 48?

Because he was timed at 48** in a relay. Canova talks about Cova (druggie) running an all-comers 400m. This is not very accurate measure of a distance runner's speed. First of all, distance runners are very bad accelerators and take a long time to get up to speed. In these all-comers meets, they often try to use blocks which is very inefficient for a 10,000m runner. The only 400m run that shows distance runners' speeds is a flying start. Who cares how well they accelerate. I've seen pretty good distance runners run fast flying start 4 x 400s whose time for a standing start 400m was almost 2 seconds slower.

they can run a 400 as techically good as can be asked

they just don't run them because

- it offers no useful info - we know 51/52 is expected

- risk of injury which is paramount

they are not asked to perform inhuman contortions, just adopt a crouch position

if they are so physically handicapped that they are incapable of such, then they shoudn't be running on circuit

It's not the number of miles that will hurt Cam. It's all the juicing- his heart could very well explode!

Levins will NEVER crack 27:00 or 13:00. He is done.

The high mileage will break him, he will retreat to a trailer in Nebraska, drinking Natty lights for the rest of his life, and reminiscing to his 400 pound wife (they roleplay Jabba and Leia- but Levins is the Princess!)about the glory days of having Galen Rupp DROP THE HAMMER on him at the Olympic Finals. There will be a poster on the thin plastic walls of the trailer, showing Galen Rupp and some African going 1-2 in the Finals, with Cam barely visible at the other end of the straightaway, out of focus and in the dust of the Real American (C) Champion.

the estimates suggest he is already a 13-flat guy if given the "perfect" race this past season

he is slightly shy of 27 though

i just don't feel it's "right" he throws away his chances of a significant 5k career by bypassing it & going straight to the 10k

after all, there are maybe 1/2 dozen times as eite 5ks on the circuit compared to 10ks...
