One reason for Haverford not to go six+ hours to get pulled to a time a few seconds faster would be that it is totally unnecessary! They ran fast times in a home meet where I'm sure the fans cared a whole lot more about their guys than they would have at BU. They'll have plenty more chances to run faster times and PR's outdoors.
And no worries about ECAC. It'll be moved to a flat 200m track next year and everything will be back to normal.
It's sad that more people haven't realized the benefits of the conversions pushing more athletes to flat tracks. More DIII athletes running national qualifying times at DIII meets at DIII facilities.
You're an idiot. They didn't NEED to go to Boston, but maybe some do for the faster competition. Not everyone has the depth on their own roster to pull their own guys through the 5k like that. The Goats are making a statement by running fast times on that tiny track of theirs. They should get a conversion to lower their time for that! And leave outdoors out of the thread entirely... This is about the indoor conversion. Start another thread for outdoors.
Please identify a flat track that can host, and put on as good of a meet, as the Armory for ECAC's. I can't think of one. Maybe Tufts? But there again, a lot of schools will be driving 5-6 hours for a fast meet. Just like the BU meets. Your logic is null.
So you're saying it is sad that we don't see this stupid theory that more D3 runners are qualifying at D3 meets/facilities? Again, you're an idiot. There is a unique opportunity in this sport to put yourself against the best of the best. We have the ability to race in huge meets against all levels of competition (didn't a D3 kid race and beat Allan Webb last year?). These are memories kids deserve because they put in the hard work, day in and day out, to defeat these big names. You're a fan of the conversion for making the national meet more competitive, but also a fan of taking competition away from these athletes during the season? Not our fault MW D3 aren't allowed into most D1 meets. Some schools out east are like that (penn state doesn't allow most D3 schools into their meets), but the majority are all here to make our kids run faster and not protect our image/ego.
1 kid in the 400 at NCAA's this weekend is from outside the MW. I hope he kicks the crap out of those cry babies on their home turf. DMR will speak for itself. I'd love to spend more time on here, but I have a flight to catch to the Midwest.
