Mixed grades from me - an American from the NYC area.
I thought the fireworks and a lot of the visual technology they used was first rate.
They had a lot of British music to draw from and they did a pretty nice job of that with some snippets of famous rock anthems, etc. However, Sir Paul was bad...very very bad.
Like others, I didn't get/like some of the stuff - huge baby, cell phone bit, etc. Too much of an abstract reach for my taste on some of those bits.
Mr. Bean/Chariots thing was so-so; had a few good moments.
Queen/Bond was pretty good.
Ali was forced...I get that he's one of the most recognizable personalities on the planet, but he was completely out of place in that spot.
Beckham on the Thames was pretty cool.
Bannister should've been the pick to light the cauldron...they could've had the 7 athletes of the future hand off to him and circle him or something as he lit the cauldron...definitely a swing and a miss on that one for the organizers...but the cauldron itself was very cool.
Overall, I'd give it a C+
Not part of their grade (they have no control over this), but the NBC commentary was blech. Lauer sucked like he always does and while Costas is pretty good, he's not nearly as good as his smug ass thinks. Meredith Veira is still kinda MILFy to me, but definitely on the slide.

Your last post from yesterday makes this point all too well as you clearly don't even understand the sovereign relationship between these two countries. Has your educational system really slipped that far?
It pains me to say this as a brit, but the small part of Canada I've seen suggests it's a much better country to live in.
I thought the ceremony was too chaotic. It was hard enough to follow on tv, so I can't imagine what it was like to actually be in the stadium.
It should have been shorter and the focus ought to have been on the athletes, not some semi credible, politically biased history of Britain.
