I had a girlfriend who lived near the Mondawmin mall. So I would run from Gwynn Falls Park her house near Dru Hill. Always wondered if the Hopkins guys ran as far south as Dru Hill
In high school, our home cross country course was on the edge of the Brooklyn Homes public housing projects in South Baltimore. We used to run through the projects all the time and there were occasional issues, but the people were used to seeing us and (for the most part) left us alone. I was working a part-time job at the time and told one of my co-workers where we practiced every day and he said: "If someone told me to go run through there, I'd tell him to go f*ck himself." Looking back, it actually was pretty dangerous.

Definitely was dangerous!
Obviously public housing is not going to be safe, especially in Baltimore, but why would these be so bad?
I don't believe you ran in east St Louis. You would have had to cross the bridge to get in.
Are you serious? What if you come from the Illinois side? Stemler Cave Woods Nature Preserve ring a bell?
I responded to a different post on this thread about running in East St. Louis.
It's basically impossible.
A semi circle with the the Casino Queen as it's center point is surrounded by at least 5 miles in any direction by a combination of abject ghettos, abandoned buildings, dilapidated warehouses, railyards, elevated interstates, and swampland in any direction. I grew up and live less than 20 miles away from East St. louis. I run occasionally in the Forest Park, Tower Grove, and South City areas of STL. I also run at Cahokia Mounds and Chain of Rocks areas on the IL side.
