Suppose a handful of members of the team are doping, even if the guilty offenders aren’t prominent scoring types, there has to be some sort of team punishment right? With the lax testing standard of the NCAA, surely there must be team consequences of any program that is caught, otherwise what deters other schools from doing the same?
Then again, look at the coaches and programs that knowingly brought in suspended athletes, no consequences on their end. There never seems to be sufficient accountability from the ones in charge, be it NCAA or the schools themselves. Some sort of post season ban needs to be enacted, effective for cross country and track, otherwise the incentive structure for coaches to ignore this as “breaking team rules” will remain in place.
