the latest development is that Camille has become obsessed with legal stuff:
"Hello everyone,
I’m sharing the following for clarity and transparency.
I’m a USATF member in good standing. For almost 13 years, I’ve proudly served in leadership roles and advocated for athletes and our community. I’ve completed Safe Sport training, background screening, ethics compliance, and been through 14 record ratifications and 18 drug tests— including multiple out-of-competition tests and 3 yrs in the OOC testing pool.
I’m also a disabled athlete— being Autistic/ADHD— which means I have legally protected rights to be treated equitably and to have my needs reasonably accommodated.
Bullying, harassment, and false accusations toward me or any team member violates Safe Sport policy. This behavior is not OK and is liable to being reported. Every athlete deserves to feel safe, supported, and respected— and for our individual needs to be understood and accommodated.
Right now, I’m working with USATF to have my disability and safety needs reasonably supported. It’s been a challenging process, despite my consistent communication and good-faith efforts since June. Forcing me to “fit in” rather than honoring my legally protected expressed needs isn’t acceptable or fair.
As of today, I don’t know if I’ll be competing in Albi next week. I truly want to— representing Team USA is one of the greatest honors of my life. However I also need to ensure my safety, wellbeing, and rights are respected.
@rafa romero have wonderful memories from Albi in 2019– leading Team USA to double gold and giving everything I had for my teammates and country. I always strive to compete with pride, integrity, and heart— while also standing for what’s right and ensuring our sport is safe and inclusive for all.
Thank you for your support, kindness, and understanding ."posted today
If she is actually claiming to now have a significant intellectual disability that requires special treatment, perhaps she should regroup and try to qualify for the Special Olympics World Games in Santiago Chili in late October 2027. They have a 3000m and 5000m.
What sort of special needs does she want to have accommodated in the Albi 24 hour World Championship? The 1500m loop course includes many turns- will she need a guide runner? Will she need to use poles? How will she need to receive special communications regarding times, distances and place?
Perhaps her disability is much more significant than before. If so,, she needs to be monitored very closely in this World Championship event to ensure that she does not interfere with or obstruct other runners and/or event proceedings.
