In the influencer division, Kofuzi is on a solid 7:23 pace through 35k and looks to be running 3:13ish pace (seems to be BQing is his goal these days). Track Club Babe hit the wall around 25k but then suddenly sped up around 20 miles. And Matt Fox is jogging 9:50 miles.
How can you forget our trans Australia "world record" holder William Goodge in 3:39:20?
Just joining this thread to take another big dump on the awful coverage and commentary.
Any Australian here will have past experiences with Tamsyn Manou/Lewis and her awful commentary at pretty much every Australian athletics event. I'm not sure if she's taken some BS "story telling" course sometime over the past 5 years but it's become her entire shtick to contribute zero to the actual race calling and throw in useless personal stories about the athletes and their families. WE DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE RUNNER'S NICKNAMES, OR THEIR PETS, OR WHAT THEIR FAVOURITE COLOUR IS.
Call the damn race, or get the eff off the commentary team. Seriously, I watch all Athletics Australia meets on mute because I know Tamsyn will be on there telling me about the athlete's favourite cereal or whatever. STFU
Does all those crazy workouts to run a time slower than the old school guys like Mona and Deke who ran on 💩 shoes and did simple training of mileage and 20 minute speed workouts.
It's one race d1ckhead. He has run faster than both of them. People aren't robots ya know. Maybe you are.
Hey JTW. You don't need to run defence on here buddy. Sorry about the stress btw. Maybe next time
TBF Kipchoge has always been bad at hills. That's probably he didn't run WXC that much, and Bekele was also there as well. He got wrecked by Bekele in both 04 and 05 WXCs

Beat me to it.
Also - it's not just one race. Since all the FTK guys pretend they're still 20, I'll put it in a vernacular they can understand: Brett is decidedly mid these days. See his race at GC, or Melbourne half last year.
As to the "he's faster than Mona/De Castella" point - great. He's also exactly 1 min and 3 seconds faster than Derek Clayton, who ran 2:08 in 1969 without super shoes, sports nutrition, heat chambers and all the other nonsense. Take away the shoes, and Brett is a 2:12 guy.

Oh look another little tough guy on the Internet, who’s never been in a fight on his life.
I pull you up on your biased short sightedness and that's your response? Haha.. happy to meet up with you this arvo if you're in Sydney and I can show you how wrong you are, if you're game..
I agree. The rankings should be pre and post supershoes. What do Monnas Deek Clayton run with supershoes? Or John Farrington? 2:10 in basically retro/leisure shoes.

You mean the 1890’s to 1910’s records when they ran in dress shoes right. Not those 1960 to 1980’s cheater foam shoes?
On your home page you said the winner of the men's race in Sydney was 4th in Tokyo this year but looking at the results I think you might have made an error. Fourth place was Titus Kipruto of Kenya in 2:05:34 in Tokyo.

not good on hills? not good in the rain? not good in the heat?
thats not good. not goat.
cross country has to come back, and be valued as much as these pvssy track competitions and billiard table flat courses, tongue in cheek a bit here.
you get the point.
we are talking about running here.
you can use AI to rate performamces.. for elevation and whatnot.
laros jacob and bekele , they run sross country like real men.
this laros, understated is his cross country wins, podium, half marathon, as well as jacob.
bekele of course is goat, end to end, no goat cheat, and not always on ped.
actually, ovett with his 21.7 on so so track 200m, at age 16, and solid cross country performances, indicates the greatest, to near greatest range.
coe too, except he has only a few elite 5k plus wins on the roads and cross.
cudos to jacob and laros for going old school, as opposed to fragile kipchoge.
some billionaire, can take the lead here.
i am dying to see a mile, 3k on grass with hills, even a half mile.
in this day and age, this proposal makes as much or more sense than other goings on.
Sifan is obviously very good on courses with elevation change. I would think Boston is the next logical target.
Hassan is just good, any course any conditions. She's a winner. She's not the fastest time trialer and may not have the fastest times across the different distances, but she's a beast when it comes to racing. If she shows up fit, I'll pick her to beat the current marathoners in any race. They can't drop her and they certainly can't close her down over the last K or two. Her last race in London, she was not close to her peak fitness.

Looks like Laban Korir’s PB is 2:05:41 from 2022 from when he was maybe 37 years old. That’d be interesting if Kipchoge never even wins an age group again because of late bloomers like this guy.
I know you can see usada testing instances, but can you see AIU? Can’t seem to find it
The worst women coverage ever seen for a major. No Sydney marathon viewing for me ever again, simply a huge waste of time sitting out a few male leads and endless wheelchair coverage.
We’ve been through this many times. Unless you’re big into Wheelchair racing, the coverage for all marathons sucks. Better to just do live tracking and save yourself the disappointment.
I don’t think many are big into wheelchair racing, it’s so bizarre it gets so much coverage. Who’s making that call.
